Husband arrested for assaulting wife, damaging property
BVI News understands that a carpenter who resides in the community of Greenland, was recently arrested and slapped with multiple charges after badly assaulting his wife and one other person.
It’s understood that the suspect is a national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It’s alleged that the couple had been having trouble for some time when the wife decided to leave their home and stay with a family member.
Day later the couple allegedly reconciled and while traveling in a vehicle together, they reportedly got into an argument where the husband tossed his wife’s phone from the vehicle.
They later had an altercation in which he allegedly choked her. Our news centre was told that after that incident, the husband got angry after he saw his wife in the company of another woman and a man. He attacked the man with an unknown weapon before turning to his wife, whom he allegedly hit all over her body. The other woman was reportedly unharmed.
It’s also alleged that the suspect damaged the wife’s vehicle, though our news centre was unable to confirm the extent of the damage. It’s also unclear whether the wife sought medical attention for her injuries.
The suspect was later arrested and charged with assault as well as other charges related to the incident. However, he reportedly denied the allegations against him, saying he caught his wife in a compromising position.
In the meantime, the husband was granted bail and is reportedly set to appear in court in the coming weeks.
