I have a grace for government
Talk show host Claude Skelton Cline has stated that he has “a grace for government” adding that he knows how things ought to be when it comes to good governance in the BVI.
Skelton Cline said his “grace for government” is one of the reasons he has partnered with former elected leader Dr Kedrick Pickering to host their new radio talk show Eye On The Future of the Nation, which will be aired on ZBVI and Facebook, every Tuesday at 5 pm.
“I have a grace for government — what I mean by that is, I know how things ought to be and I know how to do and how to bring about what should be. That’s what I bring. We will offer critique and debate about topics that come up, but to take sides — we’ll leave all of that for campaigning but right now we have to be about running the country. That calls for a different grace,” Skelton Cline said on the first airing of the programme earlier this week.
Both Pickering and Skelton Cline said their show was birthed from their regular spirited discussions about the country’s political affairs and overall direction. They explained that they want to bring those discussions to the fore so residents can give their own views on subject matters and be inspired to take part in moving the BVI forward.
“It really doesn’t matter how we got to where we are but where we go from here,” Pickering said. “I don’t propose that I have any great solutions but I will share mine, to discuss and see things evolve. I believe sooner or later two or three really good ideas will come forward in this country that will set this country on fire. I believe that but we have to start somewhere.”
Talk shows that discuss politics and current affairs are a popular and important part of the media landscape in the Virgin Islands. These platforms are enjoyed by many residents who are often afraid to state their personal views but listen to talk shows to hear the latest rhetoric and witness the spirited interactions that often occur among public figures in the community.
