Identity of accident victim released
The following is a media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
As officers of the Road Policing Unit ask for witnesses into last night’s accident in the West End area that claimed the life of a 20-year-old male, video footage extracted thus far does not show another vehicle in the area at the time of his collision.
Ijahni Scatliffe, 20, West End was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was found unresponsive within proximity to his scooter. Acting Superintendent of Operations Dariel Robinson says investigations continue at this time but video footage from the scene shows no other vehicles were near or by the accident scene prior to the collision which took place around 9pm.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Road Policing Unit directly at 468-5364 or Acting Sergeant Kishon Leslie directly at 368-9811. Investigations are ongoing in the matter.

Deepest prayers and condolences to family and friends
Daz alie
After the accident, the amount people who were commenting that it was a hit and run and a jeep wrangler was involved….some of you will be the death of innocent people
Another puzzled freak scooter accident like what we had in vg last year I guess. Young man die off of scooter jus so…. and nobody knows what collided with them. This is not good at all. My heart goes out to these family and I pray one day they will be justice for the young men. Rest Easy Stash.
My condolences to the family. This is a tragedy.
Please provide a few more facts…Was he wearing a helmet?
This should be a message to the other youth scooter riders out there. This is not like a video game where you press a button and come back to life. Please wear a helmet when riding and drive the speed limit. This is a small island, you are going to get to your destination a few minutes before those people you are passing.
What did the cameras show about speed and other safety issues.
What exactly happened to the scooter and rider at the moment of the tragic occurrnce.
My deepest condolences to his mom and family. So sorry for your loss
Mandate into law that scooter rides must have a dashcam/go pro device. Many motorcycle riders in the USA wear helmet cams incase of accidents to settle civil disputes and in this case discover the true cause.
