Interns securing full-time jobs in financial services industry
BVI Finance has announced that some students have landed full-time jobs following their participation in the 2025 Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme, a joint initiative led by BVI Finance and the Ministry of Financial Services, Economic Development and Digital Transformation.
The programme, which wrapped up this September, connected 26 tertiary students with top firms in the Virgin Islands’ world-class financial services sector. Now in its second year, the initiative has grown significantly, with students placed across 21 leading companies, supported by both returning and new industry partners.
Programme organisers said the fact that some interns have now transitioned into permanent employment highlights the success of the initiative in preparing young Virgin Islanders for long-term careers in financial services. Several students also returned to firms where they had previously interned, underscoring the strong professional ties built through the programme.
“Opportunities like this open doors, build confidence, and give young professionals a chance to discover their path,” said programme lead Shamahl A. Smith as he reflected on the impact of early exposure for students.
Beyond workplace experience, students benefited from structured professional development workshops. These covered résumé building, professional etiquette, digital branding, and workplace readiness, delivered by respected local leaders and training experts. Participants also received guidance on academic and career pathways to help them chart their future in the global industry.
In the meantime, BVI Finance CEO Elise Donovan described the initiative as an investment in the future workforce.
“This initiative is not just about internships, it’s about building a resilient, future-ready workforce that will sustain and elevate the BVI’s financial services industry for years to come,” she said.
