Jamaican chef arrested for theft
BVI News understands that a 42-year-old Jamaican chef was recently arrested and charged for theft in connection with to cellphone that belonged to a customer who patronized the restaurant where the accused man works.
It’s understood that the alleged victim purchased food at the restaurant but later realized that his cellphone was missing. He returned to the restaurant to search for the device but did not find it.
It’s alleged that the victim then used tracking features to locate the cellphone and the results revealed that device was at the same restaurant he had patronized earlier.
The victim reportedly contacted the police who went to the restaurant and conducted further investigations. The cops also requested CCTV footage from the restaurant operators. The footage allegedly showed that a chef at the restaurant had removed the cellphone, which the customer left on the counter.
The alleged chef was later arrested and charged with theft. It’s unclear whether the chef was detained after the cellphone was recovered.
In recent times, there has been an uptick in theft within the community. The authorities have urged businesses and residents to install CCTV cameras as they have proven to be a vital resource in nabbing perpetrators who are committing crimes across the territory.

Whats his name and the name of the restuarant where he worked? I don’t understand why his name is shielded since he was arrested and charged.
Who the f**k steals electronic devices these days with all the tracking capabilities? I mean I don’t condone theft either way but COME ON!!!!!
Some people steal anything. That’s probably a custom for him/her!
I really wish that our news sites would stop publishing the nationality of those arrested. When a Virgin Islander is arrested, they don’t say “Virgin Islanders arrested”. This practice only serves to promote xenophobic attitudes in an already divided society.
Yes! when locals are arrested, the news gladly publish it.
@Daniel Davies, yes, virgin Islanders names are mentioned in some cases. Do the research next time.
A caucasian drowned today..why are we always drowning..I though all whites can swim..wear dockers and loooove Mayo? It’s true I must confess and we like golf.

We should assume.
