Jougo takes crown in Parade Road March Competition
Raul ‘Jougo’ Sprauve, lead singer in the Virgin Islands Based Entertainment (V.I.B.E.) group has been adjudged the winner of this year’s Road March competition.
Today, the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIFFC) released the official list of winners for the various categories of entrants that participated in the August Monday Parade.
The Parade Sub-Committte said in a release that winners in the parade — which featured more than 1,000 revellers spread across 25 entries that trekked along the one-and-a-half-mile long route — are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in cash prizes in the various categories.
Judges considered procession (first impression upon arrival), costuming, performance, overall impression, among other things to give scores to the entries.
Entrants were required to perform for the judges at the intersection of Administration Drive and Waterfront Drive, as well as at the Sir Olva Georges’ Plaza and parallel to Clover’s to qualify for the prizes.
The parade was led by grand marshal, Reverend Yvonne Nibbs-Flores, who was honoured with the ride for her over 50 years of involvement in Virgin Islands Festival.
Entries were judged by Kishma Baronville, Debra Hodge, Stephon Mactavious, Emery Che Pemberton, and Deiah Shepherd. Kareem-Nelson Hull served as Judges’ Coordinator while Marieta Flax-Headley served as Chair of the Parade Sub-committee.

ev every country has its own culture and is unique and is respected ~ cherished ~ with pride / where are those who singing the racism & colonialism lyrics
morning noon and night ❓️ let’s hear your voices on our culture (onl miss parsons ) is down to earth and tells it like it is ( who vex ~ VEX ) and all YO pretenders like (mr E lion nerd ) the great historian is speechless and how about blondie / oh only racism and colonialism he chooses to sing / write / blogg & blogg to his own blogg about . meanwhile uor culture is ignored / who is really running the County and where their minds AT ❓️
Congratulations to Jougu. Some constructive criticism for the musicians. The music is of poor structure and we need to get back to quality arrangement and format and some brass wouldn’t be bad. Music can’t be all drive or else the drive doesn’t work well because it’s not in contrast to anything else. Also the bass notes are too high all the time there needs to be a more complete range for the music. This type of music won’t last long because it’s too niche. Finally the best musicians need to work together and the government needs to create incentives for the musicians of all types to keep working all year long and not rush in May/June to put music out.
big up to the back up band vibe also
they use to announce the winners and prizes at the festival village at the end of the parade. We should not be hearing about the wonners DAYS after.
Congrats J.S. many, many years you are at it bringing life and joy to our festivals. .Tortola has too many small bands with a few good talent in each one. How nice it would be if someone can put sense in their heads and bring those talents and instruments together and make just two bands, how big and nice the thing would be..Until Jougo and VIBE will continue to dominate..
Who was his competitor again and why is the village being g named after cr**inals and people with b** parenting skills? Does guns and money gram robbery and drugs ring a bell to anyone. This is bvi for you. Waste of time nothing good no example. Just the same old cronies while them Husband chasing young girls.
At outside.. I concur accordingly. Those guys make majik wid it.
