JVD school on the homestretch of completion — RDA
Officials at the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) have applauded the progress being made to complete of the Jost Van Dyke Primary (JVD) School.
Students of the school were temporarily relocated from the island early last month and placed at the Leonora Delville Primary School on Tortola until construction on the new building is complete.
“This weekend marked a significant milestone as a major concrete pour was completed for the external works of the Jost Van Dyke Primary School – a multi-purpose educational facility. This signals a pivotal moment as we progress towards the project’s completion,” a post on the RDA’s Facebook page stated.
Officials said the external works are now substantially completed, adding that they are eagerly anticipating the project’s completion.
According to the RDA, the interior works are now 95 per cent complete, with all major components successfully executed.
Officials at the RDA previously indicated that the contractor gave assurances to the Education Ministry that the construction of the new school on Jost Van Dyke will be completed by December 15.
The contractor was reportedly forced to move the completion date back several times in recent months after facing various setbacks.
Meanwhile, the RDA stated that the new multi-purpose educational facility will soon be a reality, with a functional, modern new home for the principal, faculty and students of the institution, and ample space to facilitate opportunities for the entire JVD community.
