Let’s move on, says Premier in post-election address
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley delivered what could be described as an inspiring first address at Government House yesterday, April 24, as he was sworn in for a second time as the leader of government business.
Despite having guilefully bested his political counterparts from the NDP, PVIM, and PU in a heated and sometimes suspenseful race to win the government only hours earlier, he assumed a tactful posture in his address to the territory.
“Election campaign was a bruising one and we need reconciliation where politics has deepened divisions among us,” the Premier said. “I call on everyone to leave the campaign behind us. Let us not hold on to past grievances. Let us move forward as one people.”
Premier Wheatley also touched on his newly-formed administration’s agenda as they enter a new term in office. The leader of government business said at the top of that agenda is reform.
Other priority areas he highlighted include, “better roads, better infrastructure, better public services, sustainable development, and balanced economic growth that benefits all our people.”
The Premier further noted that his government would share a comprehensive list of priorities “in due course”. Dr Wheatley pointed to the low voter turnout at these elections and promised members of the electorate who abstained from voting this year that his government will do everything in its power to boost their confidence in the political system.
He concluded his address by assuring the wider public that, his administration “will be a government for all of the people”.
“It is the only way to heal,” he stressed.

We have a prime minister who only got 400 votes and barely scraped in his district.
What a circus this country has become.
Democracy is dead! I get the feeling we have not seen the full wrath of Lorna and neither has this VIP party.
I WILL NEVER EVER VOTE AGAIN
After what I saw happen I am not voting in the next four years.
If you do not vote again then the same people may stay in power you need to vote in order to remove who you want to.
Don’t stop the carnival. This is crazy, but then look at who is eligible to vote
And most were bought. Ask Mandinka, bro, shaq, black Mary, Collingston and chalwell with the barge.
People vote for change, and they get the exact same thing as before. This is democracy.
We definitely need electoral reform when this d**b as a rock Fahie puppet gets back into power on 400 votes.
One of them give a Spanish man money by the poll and the police did nothing this need to stop it need camera at the poll site but they all sneaky and very proud about it wow
