Lisa Penn-Lettsome is the BVI’s new head of International Business
Attorney-at-law Lisa Penn-Lettsome is the new Executive Director of International Business.
Her appointment came into effect on October 1, a government-commissioned media release indicated.
This post was previously held by the Director of Planning at the Recovery & Development Agency, Neil Smith.
In her new role, Penn-Lettsome will be the Government’s chief technical and policy advisor on international business and financial services, the release said.
“More specifically, her areas of responsibility will include coordinating BVI’s responses to international initiatives, coordinating and facilitating the development of product and business development legislation, facilitating corroboration between the Government of the Virgin Islands (including BVI House Asia and BVI London Office as appropriate) and the regulators and the private sector,” the media release said.
She will also be the Chief Liaison Officer between agencies involved in Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism and information exchange, the release further said.
More about Penn-Lettsome
The new Executive Director has some 25 years experience and has been in the public sector for more than 10 years.
She has served in many top positions such as Deputy Managing Director of the Financial Services Commission.
Welcome remarks
In the meantime, Premier and Finance Minister Andrew Fahie has welcomed Penn-Lettsome.
He said: “The expertise and experience she brings to the table can only add value to the forward direction of the industry and the wider diversification and strengthening of the territory’s economy. It is a great pleasure that the Public Service is able to attract such talent.”

What else can she do to the financial services what she didn’t do in 25 years. Meh son all you stop giving these people work. Bring more energetic and forward thinking people. No wonder the industry at a stalemate.
Congrats for what it worth but she should be retiring.
…she went to school with me. She can’t be more than 49… and she has been super good at whatever she touched!
We went school together too but Andrew could have done better.
One thing this Premier is not afraid to make tough decisions.
HE IS THERE BUT NOT QUITE THERE YET. AND I AM NOT SAYING IT IN A BAD WAY. THE PREMIER KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS DOING. SOME DON’T agree, understand or get what he is doing or the moves he is making.
Next we will hear she is the MD, FSC.
The law firm 55 years threshold nearing why the jump I say. Nothing new to add here.
