Major event in April to highlight local farmers and fishers
In an effort to further develop the industry, Agriculture & Fisheries Minister Dr Natalio Wheatley said the government is planning to host a Farmers’ & Fishers’ Exhibition and Market Day next month.
Dr Wheatley said the event is being planned for April 24, 2021 under the theme “Restore, Increase, Sustain, and Educate” (RISE).
“We all appreciate that resources are very limited and we’re very mindful that precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 are still very much in place. We do, however, think it is important to highlight the work of the agriculture and fisheries sectors and we look forward to everyone’s support and participation as much as possible,” Dr Wheatley explained during the March 10 sitting of the House of Assembly.
He also said plans will soon be released for Fisherman’s Day — another event geared towards highlighting the sector.
Dr Wheatley made those announcements while noting a “renewed interest” in the agricultural and fishing sectors locally.
He added that there is a vibrant community of backyard gardeners across the territory.
“People are searching for land to undertake farming on a larger scale and there is renewed interest in our fishing industry, especially among our young people,” Dr Wheatley said.

But there is no Covid….
As such, we should expect to be able to gather, socialize, and reopen the economy. But no. Our government wants to nanny and control you.
Carry on
No fishing industry to speak of either. We need a few major trawlers , a packing or freezing plant for exports etc if we are going to do it properly.
Waste of time!
Natalio go fix the damn high school! Shocks man!
One bet that it will be sorted next year in time for election.
Waste of time.
Big youth.
