Male killed in boating accident off JVD

A male boater has succumbed to injuries sustained in a boating accident in BVI waters last night.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said in a brief media update moments ago that the fatal incident happened off Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke.

The deceased was the only person aboard the vessel at the time.

“The one male occupant was found unresponsive in the waters with injuries to the head while the dinghy he was in was met circling in the area,” the RVIPF reported.

“Following attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead,” the police added.

The police did not disclose the identity of the victim nor did they disclose the cause of the accident.

This report is lacking important information relative to the circumstances that led up to this accident.

For example, how did the decease end up with a head injury? We as readers are being left to speculate. Update please.

That tree in Gt Habr has been there since Irma. The Ports Authority could be charged for gross negligence for not removing it or at the least for not putting a lighted nav aid denoting isolated danger. I can see a huge lawsuit here.

It was literally last night. How can anyone
possibly comment until there is an investigation?
We live in a world where nobody can wait for
anything. Have respect and wait calmly for
facts. You don’t have to know everything within minutes.
    RIP

Another news source stating he had hit a tree. It’s devastating. How can we make it safe for everyone – local or tourists. We need to clear all debris that could kill someone.

  13. Mariner says:

A tree? Yes! Do a bit of research!
