Man accused of wounding bar attendant granted bail

BVI News understands that a 61-year-old man who attacked and wounded a bar attendant was last week granted police bail in the sum of $5,000.

The incident reportedly happened in December though the man was caught by the police last week. The accused attacker allegedly resides at a Vanterpool Estate address.

It’s reported that the victim was working at the cashier’s station inside the bar when she heard one of her co-workers scream. As she turned around to see what was wrong, she was blinded by a liquid substance thrown at her by a male wearing dreadlocks.

BVI News understands that the victim believed the liquid substance contained salt and pepper.

The attacker reportedly ran from the bar as the victim rushed to the bathroom to wash her face.

However, BVI News understands that the accused attacker allegedly returned moments later and brandished a knife which he used to cut his victim’s arm. She reportedly received treatment at hospital.

After several weeks, the police finally arrested the accused last week and laid wounding charges against him.

BVI News further understands that he is scheduled to appear in court some time in March. But our news centre hasn’t been able to ascertain the motive for the alleged attack.

Nothing wrong with being 61, but everything worn with resorting to violence. What guarantee is there he won’t do it again? You’d think at that age, a little bit of wisdom and restraint might have manifested itself. The man needs help
