Police are investigating reports of an armed robbery in the Ghetto/Crabbe Lot area of Tortola, BVI News has been told.

Usually-credible sources said the suspect is an ex-convict who is ‘well-known’ to the court.

Reports are that on February 14, the victim was in the aforementioned area when a male assailant approached with a gun.

It is reported that the assailant struck the victim with the weapon then searched the man’s pockets.

The assailant took an unknown quantity of cash, BVI News understands. It is also understood that the assailant took other valuables from the victim.

The gunman left the scene sometime after.

It is not clear whether anyone has been charged in relation to the incident.

Why is the ghetto still being called the ghetto when it’s not the most ghetto place on the island. Hardly any crime happens there. I can think of 4 other places on the island that has a higher crime rate at this point:
