Man charged after allegedly attacking spouse with machete
BVI News understands that a father who resides in the Long Bush community was recently charged after allegedly attacking the mother of his children with a machete.
It’s understood that the couple has been in a long-term relationship and share four children. It’s unclear whether they were still involved when the incident occurred but sources say the reported victim — a hairdresser — was styling the hair of a male client when her children’s father angrily approached her.
It’s understood that he threatened her and asked her to stop styling the male client’s hair but the woman refused. He allegedly left and returned with a machete which he swung at her while she held one of the children they share.
It’s also reported that the woman threw an object at her spouse during the attack but it’s unclear whether she or the child was injured during the altercation.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was eventually held. Reports are that he denied the allegations made against him, and told cops that he simply inquired about the male client that he saw in her presence.
In the meantime, it’s unclear whether he was held on bail and whether he will appear in court to answer to the charge laid against him.
