Man injured; boat capsizes during race at sea
Man atop boat that capsized in BVI waters today, June 11.
Emergency personnel and residents were whipped into action at sea today when a boat belonging to Sammy Leonard capsized, leaving at least one man to swim desperately for his life.
Based on videos of the rescue operation seen by BVI News Online, another man, who was bleeding, was taken away in an ambulance.
The Virgin Islands Search and Rescue team was among the groups that assisted.
The incident happened during a boat race from Brewers Bay to Steel Point, British Virgin Islands.
Details of how it unfolded are sketchy at this time.
“Both sides of the [capsized] boat rip up,” an eyewitness said.
