After a 10-year hiatus, the One VI Music Festival made its return on June 28 for its first night of festivities at Cane Garden Bay Beach, which was packed with patrons.

The festival kicked off with a mix of local and international acts, including Sistah Joyce, A Team Band, Farmer Nappy, Mical Teja, and Tarrus Riley.

Sistah Joyce, a Virgin Islands native, set the tone for the event with her Calypso tunes. A Team Band performed popular soca songs from various artists, followed by Farmer Nappy, who began his performance with the popular groove “Hooking Meh.” Mical Teja, known as this year’s road march winner, performed “DNA,” engaging the crowd to wave their native flags as he sang the familiar line, “no place like home.” A Team Band, Farmer Nappy, and Mical Teja are all from Trinidad & Tobago.

The night ended with the highly anticipated performance by Jamaican reggae singer Tarrus Riley. He held a moment of silence and performed a tune to honor the late Peetah Morgan of the Grammy Award-winning reggae band Morgan Heritage. He then delved into a thrilling set, performing one of his new viral songs, “Life Affi Nice.”

Tarrus Riley consistently praised the ambiance and expressed his love for the Virgin Islands both during and after his performance.

The first night enjoyed a well-engaged crowd, with vendors belonging to some of the sponsors, including Paradise Club, Quito, and Kimberly Rhymer, whose establishments were conveniently located at the venue or nearby.

Other sponsors included the Government of the Virgin Islands, Bellows International BVI, KT Productions, The Wellness Centre Clinics, Cre8tiveArts Branding School, Driftwood Spa, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, Infinite Solutions, Nagico, Casamigos, Johnny Walker, and Botella.

The One VI Music Festival concludes on June 29 with performances from Jamaican artists Masicka and Protoje, and USVI native Revalation Da Royal.

As part of the festivities, the One VI Poker Run is scheduled for June 30, with $16,000 in prizes to be won, meeting at the Paradise Beach Club.

Never seen so much raggedy looking weaves at an event before. Hope y’all have water to take a bath when you go home. Cause a whole of y’all was reeking both men and women. FYI, if you are reeking please don’t spray on perfume or cologne it makes you reek more in the heat.

        • Shame on you says:

All I can say is you are one jealous and unhappy person. If you were there you were there I’m sure you paid money to see the artists and to enjoy yourself not to be assessing how others looked. Shame on you, tbh your pathetic and sad. Whoever you are, try to work on the hurt that’s going on within from trying to cause others hurt. You’re life isn’t what you’d like it to be? You’re partner left or cheated on you? Didn’t get Promotion on the job or didn’t get the job? In debt, been diagnosed with something? Listen whatever it is that has you so obviously unhappy, seek help. Counselling works or just pray and ask GOD for help because you’re bitterness and rude and nasty behaviour is unbecoming….which I guess is why you didn’t post your real name. Anyway, I’m praying for you.

I was not at the event but had I paid my hard earned money to go, I wouldn’t be paying attention to what someone is wearing or how their weave looks. You are one unhappy individual with low self esteem who tries to destroy others with your own insecurity. That person u loved don’t run and left because of your negativity and here you are projecting your negativity on other lives. Get down on your knees and let Jesus Christ do a turn around for you. Love & light

This is why I stop attend events where TORTOLIANS attends because you all come out just to judge people instead of having fun. Life is too short to be so miserable and unhappy with self.

  4. Get it right says:

This was not a Cane Garden Music Fest. It was a Turnbull music fest. Most of CGB was fenced off. Nothing like 10 years ago…although it should be. Maybe next time the bros will include CGB and bring it back for real. How government sponsored this private event is is the big question? Money we pay to gov? Sickening..

Put a difference between holy and unholy. Come out from among them. You’re either the church of God or You’re not. This half way thing is gonna cost youall your souls following these so-call preacher guys who would not preach against sin. And you people who following them wouldn’t even take up ayo Bible and read it. Play with ayo life. Suppose Christ show up in the middle of poker gambling. Let us be careful because he going to come like a thief in the night.

Nothing good can come out of these events. Those Turnbull brothers, their parents and their congregation, are playing a dangerous game. They are making a mockery of God.

    • Nonsense says:

For your information it was not a CGB Mmusic fest or a Turnbull music fest. This was spearhead by a group of people from the BVI. Hence ONE VI MUSIC FEST. SO please leave Mr. Turnbull alone ah beg you. If it wasn’t fenced off how were they yo control people coming and not paying. CGB was not fenced off. Easy access areas were fenced off. Do get your facts straight before coming on here chatting piss

    • Rumours says:

Who said Goverment sponsored this event. Privately funded. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

  5. Festival goer says:

Goes to show that a well-planned, well-organised and reasonably-priced event will do well. Good artists, fun set-up with a variety of bars, food, music, lighting and in a beautiful location with different spaces for different vibes – it was a fantastic event.

Contrastingly, a stage on a dirt patch hosting artists 90% of people haven’t heard of (no disrespect to the artists) isn’t gonna draw a crowd.

Congrats to the promoters and organisers of OneVI Music Fest, looking forward to next year.

  6. SMFH says:

This is exactly why people travel to enjoy outings. You cannot go ANYWHERE in the BVI to loosen up and enjoy yourself in peace. Every where you turn its a f**king camera in your face and people posting all over without consent. I can understand crowd pics to show the vibe of the event but why the f**k are you all up in people’s nose hairs?!

  9. Correction says:

The turnout wasn’t massive, it was a decent turnout. The area was small so it made the crowd seem bigger than in actuality, especially in the pictures. I was there.
