Maynard’s sentencing moved to late February

Former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Oleanvine Maynard.

Former BVI Ports Authority Managing Director Oleanvine Pickering Maynard had her sentencing date pushed back by several weeks after repeated delays to the start of the drug and money laundering trial for former premier Andrew Fahie.

The trial for the former premier was reset to January 22 pending the outcome of several motions filed by the prosecution and defence.

Maynard heads the prosecution’s list of witnesses and will now be sentenced on February 22, instead of the previous January 18 date that had been scheduled.

Fahie, 53, is charged with one count of conspiracy to import a controlled substance, conspiracy to engage in money laundering, and attempted money laundering in addition to interstate and foreign travel in aid of racketeering.

Fahie was nabbed in Miami after he allegedly conspired with Maynard and her son, Kadeem Maynard and agreed to allow large amounts of cocaine to pass through BVI’s ports as part of a multi-million dollar deal he is alleged to have made made with an informant of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who was posing as a drug trafficker at the time.

Maynard admitted in a plea agreement that she introduced the DEA informant to Fahie, and together, they used their authority to facilitate the secret cocaine-smuggling plan.

She is expected to offer critical testimony against Fahie after accepting the plea agreement which gives her a chance at a reduced sentence for her role in the Hollywood-style scheme that shook the territory in 2022.

Maynard will be followed on the witness stand by DEA agents Jossue Dominguez, Shad Aschleman and Brian Witek, along with Jon Adams and William Cortes from the US Customs and Border Protection.

“Maynard heads the prosecution’s list of witnesses”

Seems a bit ridiculous. Had everyone said nothing what would they have done? Some people think they are all that and a bag of chips deserving respect but the at the end of the day where are they, saving themselves.

You life already ruined yet you want to save yourself, that’s sad & funny. This rant isnt about crime but human nature. How many would tell on & deny Jesus to save themselves? 1 out of 12 told on Jesus. For a common man that is 12/12.

What did Jesus say? There is no greater love than for one man to lay his life down for another!

To believe there are no hypocrisies in the laws and even how they are applied is to deny the of the very nature of man. Hobbes might be onto something.

    • No @bvi says:

Illegal? Not if her reduced sentence is conditional upon her testifying. Not if she was not forced to take the deal on those terms. Anyway, hoping not to see some request to vary bail conditions again for Mr let-us-pray in order to attend the funeral of a late colleague.
