Mentally ill man reportedly involved in SCB shooting
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has disclosed that a man is now recovering from gunshot wounds he received following an altercation in Sea Cows Bay.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting are not immediately clear and the police have not yet revealed the identity of the perpetrator and have not disclosed whether charges have been filed in the matter.
However, information reaching BVI News is that the offender is believed to be a member of the community and is reportedly dealing with mental health challenges.
In a brief statement, the RVIPF confirmed that the shooting happened at approximately 8pm on Tuesday night and that the victim reported to the hospital with injuries.
The full extent of the man’s injuries are not immediately clear at this time but the police shared that the victim is in stable condition at the hospital.
The shooting is the latest in a series of gun related crimes that have continued to affect the territory in recent weeks.
Last week, a man was reportedly shot and wounded in his shoulder while sitting on his porch in the Harrigan Estate area. The victim managed to dash for nearby bushes in an effort to evade his attackers. However, the full extent of his injuries were not made clear by the police.
Four murders have been recorded in the territory since the start of 2023. Guns have been at the centre of these crimes as the police ramp up efforts to recover illegal weapons from persons in the community.

When you said mental Ill man I really thought you meant s**w man. He must be the most mental deranged person to spend 250,000 on a fete. For a place that wants to be so develop and don’t have a mad house. Did Mrs Wrong from the funeral home didn’t notice that in all the islands she visited had a mental institution. But I know why if you had one slow man would qualify for a room. Just saying Mrs Wright as well with her * nonsense. Tell me which expat country have a finance minister spending like a drunken soldier. But wait the heads of government meeting in Bahamas didn’t see ours there. Maybe they don’t recognize crazy A$$ leaders you roads are in shambles, who inviting tourist to see the raw $*it all over the road. Yet spending 250,000 for people to work up with hungry bellys.

Everyone who needs to know knows that Walter has problems. The government fix for people like him is an injection to control him. Of course it makes him shuffle and dribble like a zombie and since Mental Health has no priorities he gets to decide if he’s taking the shots or meds (if any are offered). No one is helping the mentally ill, there is actually no Mental Health to help them, so they have to make their decisions themselves, take care of themselves as best they can, so they do. I sincerely hope that someone is going to find out where he got the gun. That’s the real criminal here. Everyone knows that since the fire set to the boat next to his house, right outside his window, he’s been overly agitated and has attacked at least one person with a knife. Now he’s got a gun. Since we always can find someone else to blame, and no government agency is going to take responsibility for how badly off this guy is, I hope they actually do something and find the person who gave Walter a gun knowing full well his mental condition.
