Minister Rymer distances himself from disgraced Premier

Rymer and Premier Andrew Fahie

Nearly a week after news broke that Premier Andrew Fahie was arrested on drug and money laundering-related charges, Minister of Transportation & Works Kye Rymer has now sought to dissociate himself from the disgraced Premier.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page Tuesday night, May 3, Rymer said: “While I respect due process and the presumption of innocence that is the right of all persons accused of wrongdoing, I do not condone the alleged actions of the Premier, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie, that have led to his arrest in the United States, and I distance myself from those allegations.”

In a seeming reference to Fahie and others accused or implicated of serious wrongdoing, Rymer further sought to make it clear that the “self-seeking personal actions of a few” do not define the government within which he has been serving since 2019.

And in offering a rational for distancing himself, Rymer said leadership and public office are held on trust on behalf of residents. He added that anyone who knowingly and selfishly violates “this sacred duty, dishonours our generations past, present and future”.

“I, as an elected official, have dedicated my nights and days towards the single purpose of developing these Virgin Islands and lifting the quality of life of our people. I therefore share in the hurt and outrage that our people are feeling at this time,” the first-term legislator stated.

Rymer went on to declare that he renews his pledge to honour the trust the Virgin Islands people.

Thank you Minister Rymer. Please help us move towards acceptance by resigning your post and assisting with the transition to a revised constitution and a new government. Please help guide us through this period of transition where we can establish and build the foundations for a more sustainable future that is focused on improving our children’s education, improving our infrastructure, and working together in a drug free environment to build a harmonious future based on common prosperity and happiness. Thank you Minister Rymer. Amen.

You are not innocent. You stood by as a member of cabinet and allowed this disgraced Premier to victimized people, to waste taxpayer dollars, to give out contracts to his friends and VIP cronies. You did this for 3.5 years. You stayed quiet while people were being fired and jobs made redundant. You stayed quiet while inexperienced and unqualified people were put on these boards to further victimized hard working people. You said jotting when they raised their stipends from $300 to $900 and $1800. You said nothing when it was moved for 1 term members to collect 3 years of salary after they lose the next election. You said nothing while your mother in law was the driving force behind most if not all of these abuses. You sir, are not innocent. You have failed the people as well.

To distance yourself now from AF only when it is convenient and safe to do so is cowardly. It is not an act of Valor or a sign of good character. You should have distanced yourself when you saw the injustices begin after your first year in office.

You are a voting member of Cabinet. You are just as guilty for this COI as AF. So while you are distancing yourself from his alleged crimes, also let us hear you admit to your guilt!

Please investigate this White Paper whereby a certain clique went ahead and interviewed about 35 persons and presented names along with Resumes to the COI last year who they believe should be put in charge of running the Government should HOA be dissolved and mind you without consulting the public yet saying it was on behalf of The People of the VI.

Many are now finding out about it.

Everyone in current Government that sat idly by as the disgraced Fahie called the shots requires being investigated including that clique who seeks to keep benefiting by having ties to who is running the Territory.

Hon. Kye do not allow family/relatives to corrupt you.

I think he denounced his actions but did not distance himself. Words like Innocence and Due process, alleged actions. aah these politicians are quick if you’re not looking. “I distance myself from those allegations”
This doesn’t sound like a denouncement or distance from Head Coach to me. Sounds more like a just in case……to me.

    • Rymer Get the Green Flags Down says:

The green flags are part of Fahie’s witchcraft to “fix” (a witchcraft term) certain things. The People demanded answers from Government as they went up and not one word from Fahie and his team.

Let’s demand Hon. Rymer get trucks to take them down since some are dangerously placed on the poles over wires.

Distance yourself by also removing those evil cloths.

Stand up stand up for Jesus since you all like to call on His name so much.

    • Witchipedia says:

Generally, knot magic requires a piece of string. A witch may choose to use twine, yarn, thread or ribbons, anything she has on hand. Any piece of string may be used. Some witches have a dedicated stash or you can use any old bit you find around, though it is a good idea to cleanse it first to make sure it doesn’t have any energies that could interfere with your spell. Some witches use bundles or braids of string.

Many witches will choose a cord (or ribbon, etc.) in a color that corresponds to their purpose, but some just use one color (usually black or white) for all purposes. Often, the cord is tied nine times, but not always. Sometimes a number is chosen using numerical symbolism and sometimes it is chosen to represent a specific concept or amount (like some, a bit more, a lot). Sometimes many many knots are tied as a sort of meditative practice. As each knot is tied, the intention that you are meditating upon is further bound to the cord. These may even be decorative and worn as jewelry or hung in the home.

    • Just guessing………… says:

Think back of which high up person in our beloved society has been associated with witchcraft in the past. What is the the connection with this person and our friend from Senegal that is due to be paid $83k by our fallen leader ?
A lot of questions to be answered !!!

  18. Well my peace says:

Not so easy tiger! You must have known who Andrew was. You sat there in cabinet and supported all the corrupt policies that he put in place from the barges to the stimulus to the overpriced AC unit for your campaign manager. Never once during that time when the people were voicing their concerns about governance did you ever speak out about anything. Now because he is caught up you come distancing yourself? If you had any courage you would have done that a long, long time ago. You had numerous opportunities to do so. What is worse, Andrew got locked up Thursday last week and it took you almost a week to distant yourself? What you wanted to make sure that he wasn’t getting away first? We are not all stupid.

  19. Tired says:

Like I said, no one will be able to help him. Just look at the Assistant United States Attorney response, using terms like “so-called” and “was, and is Premier of the British Virgin Islands…” That statement was dripping with sarcasm…like who are you, and how did you think that YOU had immunity? Moreover, I see that they still have you as their Premier back home…stop, just stop it, we have you, the end.

This situation is far from laughable…it is anything but that.

It’s ironic. He was the one that called for the COI, and it happened under his administration, ONLY, after he started to undermine the previous Governor (poke-the-bear if you will). Now the report doesn’t state corruption under just the VIP, but the NDP as well. I’m still hammering through the report, day by day.

The statements released last evening by his party members last night just shows that they was still solidarity in the party, that is until the Assistant United States Attorney made it known that he simply had no chance with his Notice.

Andrew helped a lot of people against prosecution from the United States, whilst doing this he created an enemy for himself. He fell into the snare, and there he is.

  20. Time will Tell says:

The acting Premier also has no integrity he was in all the media backing all the nonsense the Premier brought to the house and giving the one acting director of DOAF that position because he campaigned for him if these polluted politicians don’t resign I will not be going to the poll.

Rymer are the definition of a bottom feeder. Pathetic, indulgent, co**upt.

BOLD STATEMENT?: …TREACHERY? …REEK OF HYPOCRISY?

    Clearly, a ‘…Bold Statement.’

This is really not a matter that speaks to the ‘…Principle of Collective Responsibility.’

Speaking to the ‘…Right to the Presumption of Innocence,’ is truly admirable.

However, at the same time distancing, and indirectly oneself from the ‘…Head of ones Government’ that appears to be in a serious spot of bother,’ seems ‘an Act of Treachery,’ if not ‘…Reeks of Hypocrisy.’

Is there no ‘EMPATHY”for a ‘Fallen Leader?’
