Minor arrested for marijuana
BVI News understands that a 15-year-old boy was recently charged with possession of marijuana after cops accosted him in the vicinity of Purcell Estate.
Our news centre understands that the police were in the community when they noticed the young man irresponsibly riding his bike. They tried to get him to stop but the teen reportedly hurled expletives at the cops.
The cops then tried to approach him, but he started running once he realised they were police officers. Once he was held by the cops, they carried out a search and found the marijuana.
The exact quantity discovered is unknown, but reports are that the teen said the drugs did not belong to him. After he was arrested and placed in the police car, the teen reportedly made another attempt to escape the cops.
His efforts were futile and he was jailed and later offered bail at an unknown sum. It’s not clear whether his bail bond was paid and whether he’s been released. It’s also not clear whether or not he’s a first-time offender.
In the meantime, our news centre understands that the young man will appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile over on a neighbouring island local government are keeping up with the changing times. Why are we so backward to be sending boys to jail for carrying a controlled substance that is basically a dried flower? They can buy all the liquid poison they want because for some reason certain members of society will tolerate a crazy drunk. Maybe because they too are drunks.
If marijuana was good enough for the old people of the bible i.e. King Solomon, then it is more than good enough for the people of the VI.
If you wanna make your own point, fine, but don’t do so by stretching the truth….ain’t no where on island a popo could find a minor drinking liquid poison – alcohol – and not confiscate it, and possibly charge the parents as well.
