Minor charged for possession of AK-47 rifle

The Virgin Gorda Police Station

BVI News has learned that a 14-year-old minor was arrested and charged in Virgin Gorda after an AK-47 assault rifle was reportedly found in his bedroom.

Highly-placed sources told our news centre, that family members had sought police assistance upon suspecting the youngster of possessing the weapon.

Police visited their Virgin Gorda residence, conducted a search, and recovered the rifle and 18 rounds of ammunition from the minor’s room, BVI News understands.

The boy was arrested and charged for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and explosives thereafter.

It is unclear if he remains in police custody.

Under Virgin Islands law, an AK-47 is classified as a “prohibited weapon”.

  5. Hmm says:

Deal with him as an adult. If he had shoot somebody with that AK47 it wasn’t going to be a ‘minor” death or injury.

  9. So I’m wondering says:

Who was grooming this child, yes a child. From a reliable source the gunmen is teaching and using the young boys to carry out the killings. The dude that was killed recently by the market square was shot up by some young boys that was recruited to green light dude. Why you think his killers has not been found. At least this one family notified the authorities before he had shot them up in their home or someone on the street.

Kudos to the parents. To decrease the wickedness in this country is for parents to speak out and get help. Kudos to you, keep praying for the children.

  13. Yes sir says:

The gunmen is grooming the young boys to do their killings now. Why do you think when people in Tortola get killed the killer(s) is never found. The boys and girls that is up and down on those scooters day and night is moving the drugs and guns. If you are a parent and you did not buy your son or daughter the iPhones and the Gucci chains where do you think they are getting them from.

  14. @ YA,.'ÀLL SEE says:

and we still have the king nof of his yello site (aka) the wigged one is still hollering out from his throne

  15. @So I’m wondering says:

At 14 you really have a mind of your own. They dont need anyone grooming them besides the music, GTA, and their own mind. Stealing scooters was all the rage years ago. I guess now they have protection on a whole other level.

Stop dumbing down them by calling them children. We’ve all been there. Even growing up my very neighbor my age was caught stealing my stuff, my cousin stole from me, a lot of memories coming back… Some people are just built to be bad.

    • @@ So I’m wondering says:

In this case, the 14-year old was not smart enough to discern the inquiring nature of his parents, not to mention not smart enough not to keep it in his room. More likely he thought he had a mind of his own….the current science suggests that frontal cortex (decision making part of the brain) is not fully formed until you’re in your early 20s, which explains why many youths engage in stupid behavior (and get taken advantage of).

  16. My fear says:

Is the little gangsters is going to one day go up in the schools and start shooting up the schools. I don’t mess or say anything to the young boys and girls that you see out here on the street idle not going to school.

  17. I commend says:

The family of the 14 year old boy that turned in their son to the police. What in the world a 14 year old child is doing with a AK47 assault weapon in his home.

  18. One love says:

The lasting forever crime agaibst these VI and its people was to import a deluge of a criminal demograhic and poverty which now is the dominant population of these VI. Microcosm countries of the worst in the Northern Hemisphere are the communities of
these VI. Two parent household are are . Children have no knowledge if which baby daddy share his / her DNA. Such. A demograhic Andrewcateted to as their comradarue was willingly useful and their criminal comfort and familiarity was conducive to his illegal enterprise .Their votes fir him guaranteed. Periodically he gave out status by the hundreds and hundreds. So yes these VI have a bleak financial and social future which mirrors the countries of origins of the now dominant population cultural norms.
May the Godfather of this potpurri of filth rot in his cag

  19. nope says:

Stop blaming andrew like a ghost, he was just a fool who got set up. The governors have always been responsible for border security.

  20. 14yrsss says:

Like I’ve been preaching to y’all the next generation of youths heavily glorify the criminal life style. They literally run songs about gunning people down at festival grounds. Where young people gather in droves. There are young women in local rap videos with local artists who are flashing guns and them face not hidden .

Parents take heed and steer your child on the right path. Start condemning wrong doings and immoral behaviour

    We in trouble long time

  21. No says:

I’m sorry to say this it doesn’t make any sense. The cost of a AK 47 is very expensive where a 14 year old get that kind of money for that,I believe he is holding it for someone

  22. For sure says:

Wiggy wiggy and WB IS HOLDING THE fort down. Wiggy Wiggy from the outside and WB from the inside of camp cup cake up in the hill.

Do it now and save country.

  24. PoWe says:

Young Black male with the requisite ties, imported installed and so on and so on…

If I am not mistsken, there was a almost hushed but eventually shoo showed incident where a YBM was toting a real gun in his school backpack while in school..but followup on the incident, rumored to be one of like incidents within the school, was hushed up and shooshooed..the lives of our real BVIslander children are of no value no more than our vehicles bumping through the no end in sight ever miltiplying numerous and multiplying potholes.
In the real World a un toting minor school child would be removed from his/ her home and parents/ guardians charged with a crime

  25. Hmmm says:

What boats does customs not look at when they’ve arrive? Every day coming from the Rock.

  26. Live Wire says:

Wkndrr of the authorities will obtain info from thus boy regarding source and contacts for the gun ,ammunition and “hire for murder” operation.

  27. Madea says:

Where did he get it from? How did he buy it? Who gave him the money to buy it? Or did he steal it?

Boats come in and out of Virgin Gorda with no checks by the Ports Authority.

  28. Concerned says:

No one should have known who turn in the boy for their safety who going to protect the person that every one know it a family member what if the owner for the gun comesafter the family now sometimes they have to know what to publish
