Monday’s murders could be connected, says police

Officers of the Armed Response Unit in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

RVIPF RELEASE: Detectives have not ruled out that the early morning slaying at Brady Ghut could be linked to last night’s shooting which has left one Fahie Hill resident dead but are, right now, keeping all lines of inquiry open.

Kareem Ettiene, 24, was pronounced dead after receiving gunshots wounds while in his home just before 10pm last night. No one else was injured in this incident.

Before daybreak yesterday morning Tyrone Thomas, 30, of Greenland was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was taken from the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

A female passenger who was also in the same vehicle is presently in hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. She is in stable condition. Detective Inspector Joe Goff of the Major Crime Team says his officers are prepared to follow any leads at this stage in the investigations.

“We are very open to any lines of inquiry that could shed light on why these young men had to lose their lives in such a tragic way – in less than 24 hours of each other. They are both well known in their circle of influence and therefore we expect many to know the circumstances, the contributing factors and even the perpetrators of these homicides.

We are interested in any information that can help us to quickly bring about arrests in these cases,” the Inspector Goff noted.

Police are also asking persons who may have seen any strange or unusual persons or suspicious activity near or around the Watch House at Fahie Hill last night to contact the Major Crime Team.

Persons are invited to contact the Major Crime Team at 368-5682 or 368-9342.

CCTV cameras need to be placed at all intersections in the hillside and to be well lit, once there is motion in view of the camera a picture should be taken as well. (by Sage Mtn, intersection dark like s**t) we need to beef up our territory surveillance and put more lighting. People chop down your bush too in order to assist police.
