Nat’l Parks Trust enforcing entry requirements at The Baths

The National Parks Trust has announced that, effective June 3 this year, it will be enforcing its entry requirements at The Baths and Devil’s Bay National Parks on Virgin Gorda.

In a media release on Friday, the Trust cited Section 5 of the National Parks Trust Regulations (2008), which says BVI residents, citizens, and Belongers must present a valid BVI driver’s licence or NHI member identification card to receive free entry into the above-mentioned locations.

“Where a person fails to provide such proof, the National Parks Trust shall be entitled to charge the prescribed entry fee of $3,” the Parks Trust stated.

Residents are were also reminded that any person who enters The Baths and Devil’s Bay National Parks without paying is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both.

This follows government’s move to expand The Baths with the acquisition of Toad Hall Estate.

According to Ninth District Representative and Minister for Natural Resources, Vincent Wheatley, the acquisition represents “five extra acres right next to The Baths to add more activities to the whole Baths experience”.

“The Baths is one of the BVI’s premier tourist destinations but it has been coming under a lot of pressure lately because of the cruise ships having up to like 700 passengers trying to fight through The Baths,” Wheatley said at the time.

Also, I might add that when we were there in early May, there was a naked man walking/swimming in Devils Bay. Not the family friendly environment that it should be. Just plain creepy.

How are children supposed to show a driving licence?
Also, the naked guy must have been a tourist since he had nowhere to keep his licence. At least nowhere I would want to look for it.

    Fantastic!

Finally some clarity. The racist staff of the National Parks Trust who have been manning the entry post for the Baths for the past few years have repeatedly tried to make citizens pay for entry saying entry is only free for belongers.

This makes it clear that all citizens can enter for free and that those staff were trying to frustrate people for no reason whatsoever!

Now on the topic of parks I would like to find out who responsibilitie is is for the up keeping cleaning maintaining and health standards of the Qeens Elizabeth Park in Tortola. It is the worse keep Park in the world and further more it carries the name Queen Elizabeth Park, it a shame to see such and right in front of the Governor it a shame for the people of the British Virgin Islands to go there and relax or exercise. The bush grass rats mice garbage so distasteful plus the wash rooms water running 24/7 and so unsanitary for the people of BVI to use. So just think we are opening back to the tourist and then see the park and want to go to relax how it would look can’t see the nice ocean cause wild trees blocking no benches to sit on nothing OMG please Mr Ministry on who it falls PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO THE UP KEEP OF THE CITY

    • Lodger says:

Well it must be local. People who mess it up!

    • Downlillibeth says:

Because it bares the name Elizabeth is why it is kept in its state. No park or place in the BVI should bear that name. Until a Virgin Islander’s name go in the UK on some edifice, hers must come off anything here. We are reading every book now and understanding what went down with our people and theirs. Them thief enough from Africa. She needs nothing here. Going forward, we are renaming places Kunta Kente and Kizzyamah. Africans time now.
