NDP, Walwyn sued for unpaid 2019 campaign services
Communications specialist Sachkia Barnes has taken legal action against the National Democratic Party (NDP) and its former chairman, Myron Walwyn, seeking nearly $40,000 in what she claims are unpaid fees for work done during the 2019 general election campaign.
The claim, filed on June 20, 2025, in the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, names Barnes as claimant and the NDP and Walwyn as defendants.
Barnes, the principal of Barnes PR, alleged that she provided professional services to the party between November 2018 and June 2019 but has not been paid.
The writ stated, “The Claimant claims against the Defendants the sum of $28,908.32 being the amount due and owing for services rendered between November 2018 to June 2019, for the 2019 general election campaign, along with interest, costs and fees.”
In addition to the principal sum, Barnes is also claiming $1,500 for legal fees linked to a formal demand letter, $100 in court fees, and $8,672.50 in fixed legal costs. Altogether, she is seeking $39,180.82, plus interest, dating back to June 2019.
The document also warned the defendants that if they fail to acknowledge service within 14 days, Barnes would be entitled to apply for judgment against them.
The certificate of truth was signed by Barnes herself on June 20, 2025. In the meantime,
Walwyn reportedly said he should not have been included in the lawsuit in the first place, arguing that he will be making an application to strike out after being erroneously named as a defendant.
The NDP, one of the main political parties in the Virgin Islands, has faced internal challenges since its defeat in the 2019 election. Walwyn, who led the party into that election as chair, lost his seat in the House of Assembly at the time.

I can only wonder.
So maybe that whole push to dissolve NDP and PVIM wasn’t about vision at all—it looks more like a scheme to dump old debts and liabilities.
Question is, will Guavaberry finally do one of her famous “deep dives” on this, or will silence rule the day?
That had nothing to do with PVIM, or Ronnie, so leave them out of this, and the opposition leader was the leader at the time. Is he not owning the bill? Who hired the lady?
Did Walwyn hire her for his political campaign?
Walwyn reportedly said he should not have been included in the lawsuit in the first place, arguing that he will be making an application to strike out after being erroneously named as a defendant.
Ohhhhh so now it makes sense ………I thought leadership matters? If you were Chairman of the organization and you engaged this person for services of course you would be listed as a defendant. This man sat on an interview recently chastising Marlon and the NDP and now look here. I wonder if GMB will get us an exclusive on this one or it won’t happen because it will make her guy look bad?
Thank you editors for opening up the comments. Fair is fair.
This individual was probably paid in …., what is she complaining about.
I guess you were there helping her collect the check. If you don’t have insight on the matter it is best to just observe!!!
Now I see why the Alliance was formed….He is ducking paying his bills….Wiggy was right about him not wanting to pay bills.

They were so tight I never saw this one coming.
Tongue and teeth often fall out. one bites the other.
We are getting to drop some blows on he
All parties still owe people money
The love of money………You all fill in the dam blank
So who lets an invoice remain unpaid for 6 years?
When thing going sweet they keep quiet.
When last you all see a hole in the road needing repair highlighted? I guess all magically got fixed overnight?
These people in this country, as long as things going their way and their money isn’t affected, they do not care.
1. Did Barnes PR contract directly with the National Democratic Party as an organization?
2. Did Myron Walwyn explicitly guarantee payment?
3. Did Myron Walwyn personally engaged Barnes PR or made commitments that extended beyond his official capacity as chairman?
Walwyn isn’t wrong. It’s one thing to sue the party ( the actual entity defaulting on payments) while its a completely different thing to isolate an individual in that party and sue them (especially if they weren’t an mediary/go-between)
This reeks of malice, regardless of how you feel about walwyn.
Them man say they would have paid her if they had won the government. A cookie jar scenario.
He * a lot of people can’t run no country not he
Yeah men! And the VIP owed the Senegalese obeah man that Andrew and * was trying hard to pay.
How come natalio as deputy of the VIP party is claiming innocence and no knowledge of these quick money schemes from the barge that was hired instead a getting the UK free coast guard patrol? Was Natalio and Andrew working together?
Oh what ah thing, from one thing to the next
