New details on New Year’s Eve shooting
New details have emerged on a shooting which took place in the territory on New Year’s Eve.
BVI News understands that the victim was shot in the East End community in an area not too far from the Terrance B Lettsome International Airport.
Reports to our news centre are that the victim had driven his car to the area on the evening of December 31 when he heard gunshots being fired. He reportedly ran to his vehicle and drove away from the area but realised only minutes later that he was shot.
Our news centre was able to confirm that he received a gunshot wound in one of legs. There are also reports of a second gunshot wound but those reports haven’t been confirmed.
The victim — who is said to be under the age of 30 — reportedly received treatment at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital. Our sources say the attackers haven’t been identified to date.
The police have not indicated to the public whether they have determined a motive for the shooting.
