As governments struggle to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, they are keeping a close watch on Haiti where authorities are currently battling a disease which bears similarities to Scabies.

Scabies itchy condition which results in rashes on the skin and is caused by a tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei.

According to Haitian Health authorities, this skin disease has affected residents of several communities in the west of the country, for several days.

Last week, mobile clinics were deployed to monitor areas such as La Gonave, Petit-Goâve and Arcahaie.

The Haitian government has sought to assure the population that adequate efforts are being made to eradicate the disease.

“An awareness and information campaign for the general public and the affected areas is already underway. It covers personal hygiene, the use of drinking water, laundry and the treatment of infected clothes. Note that unsanitary conditions are fertile ground for skin disease such as scabies,” said a government statement.

The BVI government currently has a travel ban on Haiti’s nearest neighbour, The Dominican Republic. However, it is unclear whether the BVI government sees the new outbreak in Haiti as a threat to the territory at this time.

I’ve been studying natural remedies cure for a few years.

Just boil some hot water with hydrogen peroxide and some cayenne pepper ( ground powder). Put it in a basin and bath with it for a week and it’s gone.

These stuff can be bought cheap in the stores.

Also you need to locate disease materials and wash them or get rid of them. If your bed has scabies get rid of out. wash clothes in hot water and detergent.

I ALWAYS PUT SOME APPLE CIDER OR PLAIN VINEGAR IN THE WASH CYCLE. MY GRANDMA TAUGHT ME THAT TRICK. IF YOU USE OUTSIDE LAUNDRY, ALWAYS SPRAY SOME LYSOL SPRAY IN THE WASHER AND IN THE DRYER BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR CLOTHES IN TO WASH AND DRY.

these people are poor and lack proper hygiene. I’ve seen how some Haitians live in the BVI they can afford a proper living but choose to live a slump life.

I also notice this as I’ve travels to another Caribbean country (Dominica) and saw how Hattians were living there.

It had an influx of Haitian immigrants living there and some old diseases that you thought were extinct they brought there. Such as tuberculosis. It had a serious TB situation the last time I was there because of the Haitian migrants. You will not hear about it unless you travel there. No country wants to talk bad about themselves.

Anyways I do not despise people from Haiti. There are good and bad people healthy and sick people, rich and poor.
The B.V.I just needs to monitor people coming from such countries and send those back that are unfit to enter.

This is not prejudice, every country needs to look out for it’s citizens first.

That looks like jiggers and that happens from over polluted soil/ mud.

Nothing to fear here because we don’t have the same living conditions as Haiti because the US government is no dumbing their waste on our soil. Majority of Haiti’s soil in covering trash dumbed by the US.

They stated that dumping in Haiti had stopped but we all know that’s a lie.

While I was living in Haiti I was playing with some of the children that were living in the village and I came down with skin parasites. Ever since I’ve been back from Haiti and this has been 10 years ago, I have had skin problems. Like random rashes, bumps that turn into small open and itchy and even the pock mark’s appeared to go from one to another as if the parasite or whatever it is, is under my skin. I have had no doctor figure it out. Has anybody ever heard of this? They appear in the same place over and over again.
