New OneMart opens in Lower Estate
Fourth District Representative Mark Vanterpool and his family yesterday opened a new OneMart Superstore in the community of Lower Estate, Tortola.
Members of the government and the public attended the opening ceremony which took place shortly before the first customers were welcomed inside the establishment.
While thanking his management team, staff and customers who have supported his stores over the years, Vanterpool said his aim is to have supermarkets in many communities so customers can have easy access to goods; especially in times of disasters.
He said his new store location signals his faith in the BVI economy.
“I believe the BVI is going places in spite of all the difficulties, talks and issues we are having. The BVI has a bright future and we are prepared as a family to invest in the BVI,” Vanterpool said.
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley who was present at the opening hailed Vanterpool as an inspiring businessman who continues to offer vital services to the community. He said the OneMart chain of stores inspires competition among other supermarkets and this is advantageous for consumers who benefit from lower prices.
“That’s why it’s important for Honourable Vanterpool to keep it up, go in every community, put on the pressure because we want to see the prices go down,” Premier Wheatley said. “We know it’s a difficult time with inflation but even when things are tough, Honourable Vanterpool is still investing. That speaks to not only the strength of the man as a businessman but the faith that he has in the economy of the BVI.”

Next they are going to remove Dario’s and the carwash
I am not sure if ESHS school kids would be allowed to leave the schools compound during lunch since school will be whole day now, if they do I’m 100% sure they will go over to this supermarket. My suggestion is that they put a cross walk there if one is not there already and placed a police officer be placed there during lunch hours to cross these kids and look out for speeding vehicle that might use the area.
Dario’s, the rat motel, needs to be moved. Rats be all over that place at night after closing, due its close proximity right next to the gut and garbage disposal areas, and no major cleansing and fumigating are done each morning/day before opening and serving food to the public…
Last, it is hoped that the Honorable businessman can orchestrate an outlet in Virgin Gorda as soon as possible..
Not only to give the people there more choices, but also to curtail the monoply of a certain business on the food distribution of that island.
The people of Virgin Gorda needs a relief from the excessive pricing gouging that is a staple diet of the food providers over there.
It is hoped that OneMart management will be able to provide an alternative with Goods, Services and Prices very soon on that island.
You ain’t the premier?
