New Port Purcell hotel will have a “business focus”
CEO of JOMA Properties Ltd Colin O’Neal said the new boutique hotel that is planned for Port Purcell, will be geared towards travellers in the business community.
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley recently announced that JOMA is set to build a 65-room boutique hotel, complete with a restaurant, bar, retail shop, fitness centre and more, as well as an upgrade of the marina facilities in the Port Purcell area.
O’Neal said the hotel will not be a resort hotel but will have a business focus, although some leisure travellers may find amenities they can enjoy.
“It’s more of a hotel with a business focus although there will be amenities conducive to the leisure traveller. We think that its integration with a marina will also support the leisure aspect of the property but the centrality to Road Town and the amenities we hope to offer — conference facilities and other amenities to support business — will appeal to the business traveller as well,” O’Neil explained.
The Dr Natalio Wheatley government had previously announced that it is eyeing the development of accommodation facilities for business travellers. The government said this will complement the expansion of the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, which will allow more travellers to visit the territory for conference and meeting purposes.
The Prospect Reef Hotel, which is set to be redeveloped, has been touted as one such accommodation facility that will be used as a business or convention venue.
