New prison boss working to improve security at HMP — Governor

Governor John Rankin has commended the new Superintendent at His Majesty’s Prison (HMP), Jay Kendall, for his work so far and commented that he has been working steadily to improve security at the penal facility.

Kendall’s appointment became effective from October 30, making him responsible for the oversight of all prison operations as well as the enforcement of applicable laws and policies at the prison.

Governor Rankin, while describing Kendall as very experienced, said he has been behind an increase in training and mentoring initiatives at HMP.

The Governor also highlighted that security challenges continue at the prison facility. Reflecting on the murder of inmate Nikail Chambers, which occurred at the facility shortly after he took office, Rankin said this helped to expose some of the prison’s vulnerabilities.

However, he argued that even with an overcrowded prison, steps continue to be taken to enhance security measures at HMP.

“The first thing we’ve done is to increase security equipment in the prison,” Rankin said during a recent interview. “[This is] in terms of metal detectors, in terms of gate locks, and other specific security equipment, in terms of searching of food and other things which come into the prison for prisoners.”

According to the Governor, facilities at the prison have also been improved as well. He said the UK has provided funding for new mattresses and new sheets for the prisoners. “When you have disgruntled prisoners, you can have problems and challenges at the prison,” Rankin explained.

The Governor also commented on the role of the courts in the justice process, arguing that cases need to be sped up to reduce the backlog of prisoners being held on remand.

“We need to speed up cases moving through the courts to reduce the number of prisoners on remand and ensure that cases are dealt with as expeditiously as possible for the benefit both of the accused persons themselves and for the benefit of the prosecutorial system,” the Governor stated.

This is just wrong, it stinks to high England.

The abuse and disrespect, due to hyper colonialism, the likes of which we see from the hugh influx of funds to the appointment of that manager, suggest that we must proceed with self determination for oursleves and future generations by all means necessary..

I would like know that all males from every Virgin Islands family of this territory will have a fair and equal opprtunity to being appointed to and holding such a job..

But this here does not feel right, look right nor is right. It is totally wrong. Aren’t some people yet tired of being on the wrong side of history??

they get on media here and in their colonial nest and post narratives such as, “they don’t want to work, or they rather sell drugs, or they are not qualified, or they rather be engage in crime.”

How can they not commit crimes in order to survive when you come into their country and take and hold the best and highest paying jobs.

How does that trckle down to the avarege Black house hold. We’ll wait.

But, is that conscionable, morally and humanlly right to go to another man’s country, fill all the jobs with your people, excluding a significant portion of the host home, from all sources of economic gain, and that troubles not your conscience? Are you really human?

Then to add co co bey pon yaws, you bright that ugly, nasty disease called racism and inject it into the veins and life of all social, economic and psychological structures and statures of the society.

When will some people begin to realize that it is time for them to realign their existence with that of right, justness, equality and freedom?

This country is a Territory of the UK and the UK is justifiable in their concerns and efforts to make attempts amd sincere efforts from their perspective to straighten out the muck in their territory caused and engineered by those who occupy their territory.
These VI are now an immigrant majority human population of the worse in the Northern Hemisphere of this earthly globe. It is a convenient muck engineered singlhandedly by the elected and the locals who repeatedly and knowinly elected who they knew to be or become dishonest allies. The UK had no part nor did it interfere or interject in this self destruct effort . After given enough rope to hang itself and the UK come forward with their perspective for collecting and saving the crumbs,, here comes the do holders of Satan’s poss who has been present all along enjoying the ride a nd nnevwants to put claim to knowing how the UK must can and should, Allyo mek the dedog dem sick. If the UK decide what they know they must do no problem. They can,in mo way shape or form be worse than the whole lot of the Black dumb and hippocryticals nor the number in the thousands of invited and installed cannibalistic criminals and with their prolific ability to multiply and populate the street corners criminal courts rum shops w**re houses and prisons.
These BVI will and can only be better off with a glimpse of a better future with the Uk direct over sight. A larger UK population and all other, is better than the durge of the heavy uneven sinking presence and practices of the now overpowering disgraced current immigrant population which overwhelmingly, has served these VI its detriment.
