Non-Stop concert impressed American Airlines

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and Works Minister Kye Rymer.

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley touted the recently held Non-Stop Concert, saying that the event showed American Airlines that the territory is willing to invest in its tourism product.

The concert was staged to commemorate the start of non-stop flights from Miami, USA to the BVI — the first since the 1980s.

Despite the criticisms, the Premier said a high ranking American Airlines official who was present at the show enjoyed the concert which marks one of many entertainment events the government plans to host as it tries to diversify the economy.

“The Vice President of Operations for Envoy — which is a subsidiary of American Airlines — was at the concert and he was having a great time. He was there with his family and he thought it was so wonderful that we put on the event,” the Premier stated.

“I believe this event showed a great deal of confidence to Envoy and American Airlines that we are willing to invest in our product to encourage more visitors to travel to the Virgin Islands. I believe they were very impressed by it,” the Premier added.

The Non-Stop concert was well attended but initially drew criticisms from some sections of the community who felt like the government’s $250,000 allocation for the event should have been used to fix critical infrastructure.

Since then, the Premier has been defending the event, emphasising that more will come in the future as the government taps into different aspects of tourism to diversify and grow the economy.

Although the government allocated $250,000, the full cost of staging the event has not been made public.

Whenever I hear about that concert I just immediately see the criminals who bag from that event. That ghetto event won’t help what they’re aiming for. Of course out of courtesy
The people from AA would attend of course they would have walked with someone of course they would tell you they had fun then in the car asked them “ what was that???” The concert was just to put $$$ into certain people pockets.

Truly only went once and it was so packed I couldn’t get a parking and had to turn back after hours of not finding a close parking.

Other than festival this was one of the biggest event and highly anticipated too. Idk if the promoters got ahead of themselve but who they are need to come together again and make it happen.

    Being back Bombashack as well

I’m all for encouraging visitors, however I’m convinced that the use of these concerts is nothing short of rituals to drain the masses. We sound so foolish saying AA was impressed as if we just made a sacrifice to them as some kind of God…. Which we did but let’s get real…. people who support this country the most don’t come here for no damn concert where we are selling a bunch of FOREIGN products, they come here for the clear waters, white sand, green landscapes and rocky terrains, the ambiance created by the waves crashing on the shoreline while sipping on pain killers. These politicians are doing as they are told and you foolish people blinded by greed are so gullible that you believe them when they stand on their podiums making expensive promises as if they have the money to do it. Every 4 years yall hear the same lies dressed differently and you know these people are either broke or using other people/UK money… so how the hell they can promise you anything?

is not news; it’s just uncorroborated BS. Better for reporters to interview the private passengers on the AA plane that flew to the BVI for the 30 June concert if there were any!

  17. Please Give The People Their Money. says:

Well, the scalping and swindling must be in over drive all now. It is, yet, nothing is materializing for the people, no increments; no minimum wage increase; no salary wages increase; no nothing. Only continuing weekly increase basic life’s necessities such as food, shelter and other.

If giving the people their increments that they have worked for goes against conscience of the accountable leadership and that of others in capacity to execute, then at least please give the people some relief by dissolving government and calling new elections. … Maybe the people will finally get some justice and relief their.

Why? People are tired and fed up with waiting to get their money. People are at their wits end and ready to break, strike and broke the country into smithereens. People are damn tired of being taking advantage of.

They have waited through all of VIP’s reign (!2-!^ years) and promises and got nothing. Then, they waited through all of NDP’s reign (12 more years) and their promises and got nothing. They have waited through all of and are still through all of VIP’s reign (8 more years) and promises, for over twenty years now and no increments and no end in sight for mama guying of the people.

Well, the people have had enough. They are tired of waiting, hurting, suffering, sacrificing and making do, doing without and more, while watching others eat lavishly and live comfortably. This must end now!!

Retired civil servants are suffering egregiously and active servants are also. All are suffering under the heavy burden of excessive cost of living limited funds and small income. Please stop blaming who is responsible for doing so in public media and give the people what is theirs. The time is now

Look at Daffy and Dopey, American Airlines being impressed is not the be all or end all. We need long term solutions to our many woes, ie water, electricity, flat economy, pot hole roads, education issues, NHI,. Nothing works around here and we are all responsible. We vote for these incompetent losers every election. Please stop the madness!

Hi sowande you spent 250,000 on a concert yet you have a district that’s falling apart. People can’t walk by the stickitt because they’re scared. Locals, expats, everyone is suffering no employment they can’t pay their bills. They say you have no love for the people. Seems like all you care about is public relations and photo ops.

  23. No! says:

This man is seriously delusional. If, as he claims, the American Airlines people were “impressed” by that nonsensical, wasteful nonstop concert, it was no doubt out of politeness. One can just imagine their true opinions about the event, which “broughtupcy”would ensure would remain unexpressed.

That $250,000 nonstop concert as the beginning of entertainment tourism in the BVI? Time to stop trying to fool people. It was just a wasteful pappyshow.
