One dead, another seriously injured in two separate Tortola accidents
Police have confirmed that one man is dead while another is in critical medical condition following two separate traffic accidents on the main island of Tortola within the last several hours.
The deceased man has been identified as 25-year-old Guyanese national and resident of Great Mountain, Reon Stephens.
Stephens was involved in an accident on the dual carriageway early Saturday morning, February 1.
“Stephens was taken by ambulance to [the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Details surrounding the accident are still unclear. Investigations are ongoing in this matter,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said in a media release on Saturday.
Late-night accident
In the meantime, police have identified 29-year-old Vincentian and Diamond Estate resident, Keron Andrews, as the victim that was involved in a separate “late-night” accident hours before.
“Andrews was taken by ambulance to [the] Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital where he underwent surgery for injuries sustained. He remains in critical condition. Details surrounding the accident are still unclear,” the RVIPF said.
Police said investigations are also ongoing in that unrelated matter.

So why aren’t they mentioning the Police officer/body guard that ran down the deceased……
That’s a fancy car for most police officers….
Subaru Tribeca fancy? The most basic cars these days look fancy. Everyone could go the bank, get a loan and buy any fancy car. Whether it be a janitor or the janitor’s boss
Can someone run down someone riding in the wrong direction. Some of you people has nothing to do. Make sure you are not next.
Mischievous don’t be a fool you should have stayed in school! The fact that an accident happened it should be news! FYI!
My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. According to other news websites, the scooter Rider is said to be traversing on the wrong side of the road, as claimed by witnesses. Not everything said by so called eye witnesses is true.
If what the eye witness say is true, maybe the scooter Rider was drunk, if not…crazy or looking for a thrill.
If the eye witness was telling lies, then the SUV driver should be arrested and charged along with the co conspirator.
@Reality..i am in agreement with you on that although there is also a saying that they were both going in the same direction and he was hit by the SUV. i hope this is not case where the police is trying to cover up for one another as it would not be the first time!!!!
I agree, I hope the eyewitness is telling the truth and not covering for anyone. That would be a terrible thing to do.
dead body tell no tale.. May his soul rest in peace.
