Opposition Leader to bring motion of no confidence against gov’t
Leader of His Majesty’s Opposition Ronnie Skelton is set to introduce a motion of no confidence against Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and his government during the upcoming House of Assembly (HOA) sitting.
The motion, detailed in the order paper, cites several grievances, including the Premier’s admission of a multimillion-dollar salary discrepancy in this year’s budget, frequent and perceived fruitless travels by the Wheatley administration, rising crime rates, poor public infrastructure, and questionable fiscal management.
“Now therefore, be it resolved that this Honourable House of Assembly expresses its concerns and lack of confidence in the Government of the Virgin Islands caused primarily by the poor leadership and management and sheer incompetence of Premier Honourable Dr Natalio Wheatley with respect to his conduct of the territory’s affairs which is aided and abetted by his government,” the motion, as outlined in the HOA order paper, reads.
Skelton aims to garner support from other legislators to dissolve the House, allowing the people of the Virgin Islands to vote for a new government. A majority vote is required for the motion to pass.

And the majority vote is coming from where? Another waste of time instead of fixings things. The will of the VI people (as Natalio would say) does of course agree and and have no confidence in this Government or any of the other reps in the current HOA. We are confident we need change.
Both opposition and government are incompetent and happy for the title but unwilling to do what is necessary out of fear
Have no hope for neither party as you all hold one head until it’s Power struggle time but the end goal is always the same for both. Self enrichment at the expense of the people. But a little in fighting is better than nothing I guess.
Under the Westminster system the governing party with collective responsibility, government can typically win any motion, bill, piece of legislation, etc on the floor..A one vote majority , though the majority, is living on a sharp knife’s edge, for anything can go south, ie, crossing of the floor, resignations, deaths, etc..It is an anxious time for any government; it should be , for politicians are about self-interest. It should be an ancious time for the VIP government. With a one vote majority, it is a ticking time bomb and a sitting government must demonstrate high performance, dotting the I and crossing all T. Governing entities don’t like crises, but when they occur on one’s watch one must grab the opportunity to deliver, for it is generally an upward swing. Did the VIP fumble the ball instead of running with it? It is as easy as ABC and 123 when things are going well. However,,leading and managing effectively during a crisis is the TRUE test of leadership..

So enforcement of the Order in council to suspend the BVI constitution will coincide with the vote of no confidence.
Next few weeks should be interesting in the BVI!!
It is the correct action at this time. Thanks@
