Over 20 shots fired at victims in Fish Bay attack
BVI News has received additional information regarding this week’s shooting incident, revealing that the assailant made a determined effort to endanger the lives of the two men who are currently nursing injuries.
Our sources reveal that the two victims arrived at a location in Fish Bay in a vehicle belonging to a local company. While there, the gunman emerged from the side of a building and immediately began shooting at them.
Both victims exited the vehicle and ran in opposite directions as they attempted to shield themselves from the raining bullets. Highly placed sources say while the gunman chased one of the victims, the other ran into a nearby office and took cover.
The gunman later left the scene on a motor scooter after he damaged several vehicles that were at the location.
It’s understood that both men were injured during the incident, but it is unclear whether they received gunshot wounds. Still, our sources say those who witnessed the incidents recalled more than 20 shots being fired.
The police and ambulance were called and both men were taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not known and the authorities have released no motive for the shooting.
There have been a number of seemingly surprise gun attacks across the territory in recent weeks. There is a belief that the incidents are linked to the drug trade and that oftentimes, the victims and perpetrators know the reasons for the attacks.
Despite this belief, the community remains concerned as the attackers have been making more brazen attempts during the daytime and in public areas where others are at risk.
The police and elected leaders say they are ramping up efforts to quell the violence but continue to urge residents to assist by sharing what they know so the authorities can apprehend the perpetrators.
