Over $23K up for grabs at fishing tournament on VG

More than $23,000 will be up for grabs next week when the BVI Sports Fishing Association, in partnership with Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour (VGYH), hosts the 2nd Annual Virgin Gorda International Marlin Tournament.

The tournament will run from July 28 to 31 at VGYH.

“Over $23,000 in cash is to be won, with the first place winner receiving cash prize of $12,000, second place $7,500, and third place $3,500,” the organizers said.

“There is an expected turnout of 15 or more boats participating in the 2017 tournament – a steady organic growth from the event’s launch in 2016.”

General Manager at VGYH, Erik Huber, promised that the weekend will be packed with fun activities. “We are excited to host the 2nd Annual VG Marlin Tournament. This year, we’ll have additional participating boats, so we’ll have a weekend packed with fun activities to enhance the tournament.”

The organizers further promised that all participants who stay at VGYH for this year’s tournament will be given special offers – free dockage, free 25lb bag of ice daily, 15% off fuel, complimentary Harbour Hurricane drink at registration, and a complimentary continental breakfast courtesy of VGYH.

“Registration begins on the 28th, and is followed by a Fun Day event at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour on the 29th to kick-start the tournament. Family and friends are invited to come out and enjoy fun activities, great food, and live entertainment,” the organizers added.

“This tournament would not be possible without sponsors: The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, Conservation and Fisheries Department, Ocean Surfari, Indigo Charters Caribbean, Bad Dog Charters, Speedy’s, Grander Custom Tackle, Bamboushay, CRC Engines & Fabrication, BVI Painters, and Fischer’s Cove Beach Hotel.”
