Parsons snubs parliamentarians for absence at King’s parade

Eileene Parsons

Former legislator and BVI cultural icon, Eileene Parsons recently used a sports programme on local radio to express dissatisfaction that a number of the territory’s elected are absent from official functions and events.

Parsons said she found it particularly deplorable that many members of the House of Assembly were absent at the King’s official birthday activities, which took place on June 14.

Speaking on ZBVI Radio over the weekend, Parsons expressed her displeasure for the members’ absence despite it being their official duty to be present.

“There was a King’s Birthday reception and the King’s Day Parade, so many members of the House were absent. I wonder if they know this is part of their job requirement,” she argued.

Some of the officials observed at the King’s Day Parade included the Commissioner of Police, Mark Collins; His Excellency, the Governor, Sir Daniel Pruce; Deputy Governor David Archer, Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley, Works Minister Kye Rymer and a handful of others.

Parsons is a renowned individual in the territory for her numerous and influential roles in the BVI society.

A former Minister of Health, Education and Welfare, in her time, Parsons was the first female minister in 30 years of ministerial government. She was also appointed as Deputy Chief Minister during her political career.

This irrelevant woman a cindyesque need to be relevant.
It is not the duty of any member of the HoA to be present at a parade for the King’s Birthday, and she demonstrates her ignorance (yet again) by suggesting to the contrary.
She needs to (i) keep her ignorant and typically bigoted opinions to herself, (ii) accept that her only real contribution to the BVI in the many years she was in office was to wear hats and choreograph some silly new dances which she then claimed were part of our culture, and (iii) gracefully fade away.

You see these old people can’t help themselves, their brain has been harvested by white supremacy over their life time, all things white are great in their eyes, including a white god, here people are aspiring for independence but she celebrating and having a romanticize fantasy of the days when we were in school compelled to say god bless the queen each morning and rule Britannia rule, these old people are dangerous because of how they have been fed colonial romance .

Eileen is the kind of person that would/will sell out the slaves on the plantation for a few nickles and dime. A thoroughbred colonial oldwoman with a white mindset however she loves the BVI none the less.

This generation of law makers and ordinary people are increasingly not into no King or Queens or this colonial stuff. People have awaken. They see thru the charade.

Who is standing in this hot sun to celebrate the birthday of some King? Not I. Please, people don’t have time for that. Those days are over.

If a person wish to celebrate, that’s their right. They can do whatever they wish, but I personally don’t care two flying cows out of it.

We are all Kings and Queens worthy of our own birthday celebrations.

The Royal Family does not care to have people of color mixed with their blood line, yet the commonwealth is made up of nothing but non-white people. Double standard that is not missed.

As such, I don’t celebrate people who don’t care for my kind. What you put out is what comes back to you.

We are all humans. We all have to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom alike.

This royal nonsense need to be abolished. It’s a relic of the past that the people of the UK need to wake up and stop supporting.

I agree with Ms Parsons. If the Premier saw it fit to attend, the others should have done so. Until we claim independence, we are an overseas territory of the UK and The King is the head of state

They had a right not to attend, I give them credit, it means that they do not support racism and white supremacy the symbol of king Charles and his family

    • ??? says:

True, but there are more diplomatic ways to handle non attendance. Use it as an opportunity to educate and make a statement that the public and Britain understands. Rudeness and arrogance gets you no where and the youth are looking on an immulating. Take a page out of Barbados’s book. Diplomacy Diplomacy Diplomacy.
