Pastor: I don’t support strip clubs but they have a right to legally exist

Pastor Claude Skelton Cline said he is in favour of legitimising strip clubs in the BVI, especially since they have been a known quantity in the BVI for decades.

In seeking to clarify comments he made on the issue during a previous airing of his Honestly Speaking radio show, Skelton Cline said yesterday that although he doesn’t support strip clubs, he believes that the clubs should be legalised.

Pastor Skelton Cline said he was recently approached by an elderly resident about his earlier statement. The senior citizen sought clarity as to whether the clergyman indeed supports strip clubs.

“I, in my faith tradition, do not patronise, support these establishments, but since they exist, they have a right to legally exist,” Skelton Cline reasoned.

“Strip clubs are not on our books as legal establishments,” Skelton Cline said. “However they do exist and remain unbothered by all governments and all other authorities.”

He said this was likely because they were opened under the guise of being a bar or something similar.

Gov’t cannot engage an illegal entity

The clergyman further explained that someone had put forward the proposition that government should sit down with strip club owners to work out a solution. With that context, Skelton Cline said the point he was trying to raise was simply that he did not know how government could rightfully engage an illegal entity.

“The first thing that would need to happen, if in fact strip clubs exist and you are not going to abolish them — put them out of business — then you would have to regularise or legalise the establishments to be what they are already doing,” Skelton Cline stated.

He said this would allow the government to regulate what happens within the entities if they were not minded to remove them altogether.

Skelton Cline further argued that if government were to regulate these entities, they would also be eliminating the proverbial stick that allowed entrepreneurs to undermine Immigration and Labour systems by bringing persons into the territory for one purpose, but are instead doing something else.

He said the requisite regulatory body and any necessary taxes can be instituted afterwards.

100% in agreement! He and his last name sake Bishop ran from America to Tola. WHY??? Then they ordained themselves! Talk about WOLVES in SHEEP’S clothing. But guess what! Their true colors and hidden agendas are slowly coming to LIGHT. Their demeanor and actions speaks volumes. Sorry o, can’t be My Leader! NO WAY PUPA!

Sure glad this clergyman was not around to share his thoughts on slavery. Applying same trend of thought it would have been said…. “it exists, therefore it has a right to exist, therefore needs to be kept legal….cause it makes money for the slave trader” Money vs. The Wellbeing of Our Social Fabric where money seems to be winning this battle as clergymen now on the money side of life. And don’t blame me other Clergymen if you have choosen to not disagree publically (where it matters most) with this ungodly proposal.

I do not agree but all the government leaders know that strip clubs exist in the BVI . We are too pretentious!! The very leaders are at these bars where strippers do their ting !! Right next to the East End police station a Bar is there where the ladies engage in strip club activities . It belongs to a prominent Govt civil servant .
All of them know but cast a blind eye . I can’t blame the clergyman for this one

  11. As says:

usual, many are blinded by self hate, jealousy, small mindedness and ignorances, that they are to blinded to see any thing of value put forth.

Been going on for years!! Illegally!!!! Why is illegal activity in the VI continually condoned and encouraged by the VI Governments and the laws not enforced?
    Ah… silly me. Thanks COI.

  14. He ain't no Pastor says:

Seriously, what kind of God fearing person can sit there with a straight face and condone the existence of strip clubs in the territory and advocate for their legalization/regulation? Is he not concerned with the potentially exploitative environment and the objectification of women that strip clubs promote? Statistics show that sexual assault and rape is more prevalent in societies where these kinds of establishments exist. The last thing the BVI needs is to make these places legal.

  15. Jane says:

Why are we saying strip clubs when we really mean brothels?

  16. Oh, I think he does support… says:

He would just appreciate if you could ignore him if you happen to see him there…kind of like mini bikes and fat ladies; they are a lot of fun, you just don’t want your friends seeing you ride them.

The pastor expressed his opinion on an issue affecting the BVI for years. So too is the issues of legalizing drugs, gambling, etc. Given that the Bible speak to occurences in ‘the last days’ perhaps we should not be hating at all…prophesy should be fulfilled…legalize the damn thing.

The COI don’t have a clue about the corruption that goes on in this place. SERIOUSLY. Sadly it has become so much a part of our nature that we don’t see anything wrong with it.

  21. I agree with him on This. Not voting for him again says:

They do have a legal right to exist. Here is why im not voting for you again, I change my mind..Is when that good lady *** in Premier’s Office who apparently liked you and had your back, who allowed you to sign a contract without seeing your good standings, put her very Job at risk, call you and said she made a mistake, the gratuity shouldn’t be in the contract and you insist to take it all, that turned me off. Not a good look. U should have gracefully agree not to take it..But it was all about you. No consideration for the good lady who had your back, who risk her Job for you..U blew it big time..

  22. Strips clubs for women? says:

If he thinks that strip clubs should be legal is that only for MEN to lust after women? If the women wanted a man’s strip club I doubt very much it would be allowed to be made legal. Then what’s next to be made legal? Prostitution, pimps or shops selling women for hire? Again would that apply to women who wanted to hire men? And where do the strippers in the strip clubs come from? I wonder if Mr. Skelton Kline would be so understanding if it was his daughter, niece, sister or mother?

  23. resta says:

He and K**me…killed the clubs in Detroit..pastors love dem ..especially clad.

  24. Pan Caribbean Man says:

    Clyne is absolutely right.
Our society of full of hypocrites. We know prostitution exists in the BVI. Don’t we see it everyday? Don’t we look the other way? Do we criticize it? Do we condone it? Don’t we see how the women walk the street? Don’t we hear our men brag of their “exploits”. Don’t we know these women come into our comfort zone holy country and take out thousands every night? Are these women screened medically? Who do our men go back home to bed and sleep with? What do they carry home? Where is the money that was meant for “d children”?

Yet we have the gall to criticize Clyne for calling for legalisation and regulation?
    Really?
Clyne will make it to heaven on the hypocritical scale.
    Will you?
