Persons exempted from the BVI’s existing travel ban on four counties will be mandated to quarantine for a full 14 days if they want to enjoy the exemption privilege.

Ordinarily, BVI visitors are mandated to quarantine for only four days.

The four countries still banned are the Dominican Republican, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil. The ban will remain in place till May 31, unless otherwise extended.

Seven categories of persons are exempted if travelling from any of these four countries. They include Belongers, persons who are holders of certificates of residence, persons who are ordinarily resident in the territory, diplomats, work permit holders and permit exemption holders, government employees, and any other essential personnel as may be determined by the Immigration Minister.

Persons who fall under any of those categories may be allowed entry into the territory from any of the banned countries if they quarantine for a full two weeks, and subject themselves to testing by the “relevant authorised officer for COVID-19” on the day of arrival in the territory and on Day 14 of the quarantine period.

Governor John Rankin made that order — the Immigration & Passport (Prohibition of Entry) Order — on March 18, 2021.

I recently went to the States. Life normal there apart from masks and sanitizers in shops like here and most people wearing them. As for cases just look at facts:
USA: got 328 million people with 30 million covid cases so 9% of population and with 545k deaths a 98% recovery rate.
BVI: have had 153 cases, 1 death and 131 recovered (18 cases pending)so recovery rate is 99%.
CHINA: with population of 1.4 billion only had just over 90k cases but had 4700 deaths at the beginning. INDIA: has population of 1.366 billion with 11.7 million cases and 500k pending and 160k deaths recovered so recovery rate of 98%.
UK: 66.7 million with 4.3 million cases and deaths 160k but recovery rate 97%.
These stats are clear: Majority of people survive Covid 19.

Yes, a large percentage of people survive however the complications and long term effects are scary and various. What we must also consider is the strain that Covid-19 outbreaks place on the health care systems globally. We only have 8 ventilators in the territory. If twenty people need them how do we justly decide who lives or who dies. Do we really what our Health care professionals to have to make such an awful choice? The implications of such could be devastating in more ways than we can imagine. Can you reasonably choose who deserves a ventilator and who doesn’t in such an intimate environment? Again, how will we survive an outbreak?

Because America and China are not one country. With grammar like that, I’m surprised they let you have a computer.

  2. Why? says:

Why not the US? You know, that shining example of how to completely screw things up and make the richest country in the world the undisputed leader in sickness and death?

majority of the covid cases in the BVI had come from the US, still US is not on the list. they just need to find a escaping goat.

  5. Rubber Duck says:

Thanks to vaccines the UK now has the lowest infection rate in Europe. The so “British “ variant of Covid, so called because it was first identified in Britain is now everywhere.

So why do France, Germany with higher and growing infection rates etc not have bans ?

Or is it just part of Fahies ongoing war with the UK.

  6. EU says:

    need banning
