Phillips crowned | Readies for Miss Universe in Thailand
The 22-year-old beauty was crowned inside the festival village in Road Town Sunday night, August 5.
Phillips said she is excited to have been selected to represent the territory at Miss Universe this year.
“To be honest, so much is going through my mind because I was not expecting this. It is a blessing in disguise,” said Phillips after her coronation.
“When it’s your time you walk right into your blessings. It is indeed a blessing and honour to stand here before you as Miss British Virgin Islands 2018.”
Phillips succeeds Khephra Sylvester who competed in the Miss Universe final in Las Vegas last year.
Phillips is a legal assistant, a business administration student at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College, and a disc jockey who goes by the moniker, Lady Mix. She was one of the two contestants who shared the first runner-up position in the Miss BVI pageant last year.
Helina Hewlett was the other first runner-up. Given that no Miss BVI pageant is being held this year, Phillips was believed to be the ideal candidate to hold the 2018 title.

So gorgeous and beautiful.
She is a beautiful young woman. Enjoy and have lots of fun in Thailand.
That is how à beauty Queen should look.Make up, skin, hair and dress all on point. If she have a stylist or style herself, again, on point.
Heavens to murgatroyd, she’s beautiful
A’yana is the most beautiful Miss BVI in ten+ years. She may have a strong chance of winning this with the back story of Irma recovery…resilience…plus an aspirational lifestyle (DJ, lawyer).
Worth a bet I reckon
Congratulations. More grease to your elbow.
