PHOTO OF THE DAY: Demolished! ASPS structure now rubble
Demolition works at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School in Road Town have been in full swing for the last few days and the structure has, effectively, been levelled.
In this BVI News photo captured recently, most of what remains are rubble and debris.
The government confirmed in December that the school would be demolished after the institution was shuttered abruptly back in June of last year.
The closure came in the wake of a structural analysis of the school that found that the building was unsafe for occupancy due to issues of structural integrity. Students of the school were later dispersed among various other school campuses across Tortola.
Premier Wheatley previously said the issue of rebuilding the school is a priority for the government.

car park for the Sports Complex across the street. Please stop deceiving us. There will never be any type of building again on this piece of land once all the debris is removed and it becomes a car park.
Now get cracking on HMP.
This is sad. Government should mind how competent is the contractor to whom job is given.
I think the contractor should bear the cost not the tax payers.
White I applaud the efficiency of this demolition it was troubling to see where the waste was being deposited. It’s a tricky business disposing of construction debris. To often we dup it in sensitive marine environments and mangrove areas. Also, while Ilive on the North side, it pained me to see this diggers and trucks working on Easter Sunday. This th holiest day the year and th noise was considerable.
