PHOTO OF THE DAY: First Nomination!
Territorial At-Large candidate for the National Democratic Party (NDP), Lorna Smith was the first recorded nominee for the upcoming general elections.
She is captured above inside the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town signing the document that officially marks her nomination/candidacy. This was done in the presence of two voters, a witness, and an election official.
Smith is a former First Lady of the BVI whose husband, Dr D Orlando Smith is a former premier and former leader of the NDP.

Ok, I don’t know you personally, but I wish you all the best. I really want to see some positive changes for the territory and it would be nice if we were all united in making the BVI a peaceful and better place. **that’s just my take on things**
Why does she look so stooped and aged.
Lorna is still gorgeous at 70.
She runs a schedule that most 35 year olds couldn’t keep up with.
Comments like these explain why we treat our seniors the way we do. SAD!!!
I guess old age is crime? This woman still run in marathons and outclass many younger patients and even in her sleep is far more intellectually aware and competent than most. In addition to that, her age being what it is; she stills looks younger than most.
Finally, I congratulate you on finally figuring out the secret to being forever young. The rest of us who have to grow old envy you.
So here is Lorna Smith asking me for employment. Never in my life I would have thought I would see this moment.
Well Madam Smith let me advise you immediately that your application has been denied.
I know about the close friendship you hold with the Brits and will do anything to sell us out. Your husband is remembered for that in my book and I will dear not risk the little I have to have you come and take that away from me.
Your colleagues are also sold out, Mr Kedrick Pickering, Myron Walwyn are not new to this and find themselves in the same predicament.
Let go and let the younger generation dictate their future. You have made enough from our pillars especially the financial service where you have investments from the cruise ship pier to the failing airplane that never operated a commercial flight to this date.
Focus on resolving those issues before offering to remedy our ills that you played a major part in making a mess of.
Move right along. NEXT!
You sound like a misogynist.
You probably wont understand the word but its basically a woman hater.
You also tell lies. Shares in the pier park? Really?
Investment in a non operating airline? What use is that you fool? . The government was conned by a long time BVI lawyer they mistakenly trusted.
Men have messed up the BVI for too long.
Women have sorted out the mess before, Thatcher, Mia Motley, Golder Meir and many others.
Time for BVIs own Iron Lady to take over.
You obviously have not realized that when it truly mattered, Lorna Smith was the one who stood up boldly to the U.K. in defense of these Virgin Islands. Please get out of here with you colonial mindset. There’s something that is called diplomacy, look it up! Don’t mistake her openness and respect for others for anything else. Also stop with you false accusations against the woman. We get it, you don’t like her, but to stoop so low is beneath even someone as bad minded as you.

I am not feeling, or hearing real change, its almost feel like its going to be the same, Sad to say, a Britain take over is the only real change I can see. .
Why does BVI News always choose the most unflattering photographs of this candidate???
Lorna is VERY SUPER CANDIDATE! She is not backing down. She is focused and well versed. Her mental capacity is deep and very sharp!
THE COUNTRY IS IN TROUBLE! Lorna can be a good contributor to our territory’s delima.
She is hurting the critics. Voters should be looking for candidates that have specific backgrounds that can SAVE US FROM THE UK suspending our constitution. Persons with
* legal background.
* experience
* knows the constitution
* can represent the country.
BAD DECISION INCLUDE
* friendship
* persons who gave out money
* persons who did you favours
WE NEED TOO WISE UP!
