PHOTOS: Anniversary celebration of H Lavity Stoutt’s birth
Several gathered yesterday to participate in the annual wreath-laying ceremony for the territory’s First Chief Minister, Hamilton Lavity Stoutt.
The territory celebrated yesterday (March 5) as a public holiday in lieu of March 7, which is the late Chief Minister’s Birthday.
Parliamentarians from both government and the opposing Virgin Islands Party attended the ceremony.
Among those officials were Premier Dr D Orlando Smith, Opposition Leader Andrew Fahie, and Deputy Governor David Archer, Jr.

Question: Why have a National Wear when no one not even our elected officials will wear it. If you are going to make noise about national pride and BVI Strong then one should lead by example. I notice the men in the shirts but the ladies have on all form of styles made from the material but not the one that was chosen. Are they, not happy with it. I guess it’s time to return to the drawing board and come up with a new design.
Good question. At least three of the male Politician’s usually wear the Territorial clothing.
I thought Brenda Smith looked nice!
Who could wear that high waist dress they agreed to as official dress? We were told that the fabric is what matters, any style is good as long as one sports the fabric. Lets encourage the use of the fabric on such occasions. Let’s go.
They put back on that weight. My goodness.
@Goodness who??
Celebrating HL Stoutt is great and must continue. We now need to celebrate all past Chief Ministers/ Premiers.
Could all be recognized on the same day. Folks pls don’t get all twisted in a know. I am not saying to create another holiday.
Why only he celebrated .. Celebrate ALL our heroes
Fahie get back he —— me son!
What nonsense! We either have a national dress or we do not have one! Only in the VI. Lots fluff no substance.
