PHOTOS: Bands rule in ‘couple up’ atmosphere

Night two at the Emancipation Festival in Road Town carried mainly Soca-themed music that inspired much ‘coupling up’ by patrons – especially young people.
In gyrating, some persons opted for the opposite sex – others chose the same.
One high-spirited man, who decided to display his acrobatic dance moves on stage, added a bit of comedy when he fell to the ground. No limb broken.
It was also a night when the bands ruled on stage. They included Kylo and the Stylee Band out of the neighbouring US Virgin Islands, as well as local bands VIBE and Our Music Group (OMG).
Performers also included BDJ & Daddy Jones and The Crew. They reeled off cover version hits such as Single by Orlando Octave, Forever Young by rapper Jay-Z, and One Call Away by Charlie Put. The tunes were performed with a Caribbean twist, much to the enjoyment of patrons at the front of the stage.
The Road Town leg of the festivities, which are being held in honour of the late radio station owner Neil Blyden, will take on another flavour tonight (August 2) with staging of the annual Calypso competition.
