PHOTOS: D’Moi Hodge returns home
Yesterday, the British Virgin Islands paused to celebrate local professional basketball player, D’Moi Hodge, as he returned home for the first time since his historic NBA contract in the United States.
Hodge, who hails from Cane Garden Bay, made history by becoming the first Virgin Islander to sign an athletic contract with the Los Angeles Lakers — one of the biggest basketball teams in the NBA.
He arrived through the Road Town Ferry Terminal on Saturday to great fanfare to include a motorcade and an official celebration ceremony at the Ivan Dawson Primary School.
Here are some highlights captured by BVI News photographer, Andre ‘Shadow’ Dawson.

Welcome home D’moi.
All the best. Remain humble and Continue. Don’t forget God.
Don’t like the photo with the Premier. Who is the woman in it? She needs to step back.
Awesome. Always continue to do and be your very best son. Be Brave.
In the BVI, does the Primer’s wife( aka First lady) have a platform or main project or she just takes pictures with her husband? I guess that’s only the U.S or other countries…I guess
I think they should do some little thing to impact the lives of women, children, someone
I strongly agree! She should atleast be relevant in volunteering at the Red Cross, Elderly Home, Reading at Primary Schools, or engaging in something productive as recognition as First Lady besides just appearing for photo opps.
Why my comment to Quedtion’s view not posting
My goodness, Ms. CEO
There are multiple photos of the Premier and others with the young man. The news site chose to use that one.. But you hating on the woman? Because why? She’s not from here?! Do you want to stand in the photo?! You should! Who is stopping you?!!
This is not the time for all that negativity. Happy moments
