PHOTOS: East End/Long Look Festival Parade 2025
Colour, culture, and community pride filled the streets of East End/Long Look as the annual Emancipation Parade rolled out on August 6. From vibrant troupes to steel pan and other music, the celebration honoured freedom, heritage, and culture in the community.
The festivities followed Tuesday’s opening ceremony at William Penn Festiville and East End/Long Look J’Ouvert. Below are parade highlights captured by Andre ‘Shadow’ Dawson.

The committee did a very good job! Start planning for next year.. let’s get more schools involved. Lets make it bigger next year.. I want to contribute to next years festivities. I will definitely be reaching out to the chair . Mrs. Leonard.

I’m on the Island for a couple of days and I enjoyed East End Long Look Festival. Everyone that I came in contact with was very nice and welcoming. Congratulations to everyone that made this happen, you did a wonderful job.

Ms. Leonard, name the Festiville after your father next year.. Wallace did a lot back in his days for the festival.. when I saw that ferry came into east end it reminded me of back in the day when Wallace was very instrumental in getting troops from st. Thomas to take part. Wallace is very well deserving of the honor. Don’t mind because he is your dad .. give him his flowers.
What is culture?
What is authentic Tolian culture?
Is it old pots, piss pans and other? really?
Think we must educate our minds fully to the definition of “culture” for the next years cultural celebrations, what is being demonstrated as culture today is truly lacking in the minds of many.

Anyway, i should have explained my thoughts more fully.
However, even if one takes the masses to the thraugh, one cannot make others drink, muchless to engage in deep thought.
Last, showcasing items that represent a by gone era represents culture, then i disagree partially
For example, was slavery a cultural phenomenon?
Whomever organised this Festival did an awesome job. There was definitely no flesh or feathers. Road Town needs to follow suit. Kudos to this year’s EE Festival Committee!
