PHOTOS: Festival village opens in tribute to Eileene Parsons

The Virgin Islands officially ushered in the 71st Emancipation Festival on Friday, July 25, with the ceremonial opening of the Festival Village at the newly renamed Charlie Neil Frett Festiville.
The evening began with the traditional Torchlight Procession, which set off from Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park and made its way through Road Town, drawing hundreds of participants dressed in white.
This year’s festivities pay tribute to the late cultural icon Eileene Parsons, and embrace the theme “Uniting our Culture, Freedom and Joy in the Virgin Islands for Festival 2025.” BVI News photographer Andre ‘Shadow’ was there to capture the highlights.

Not bad
I was surprised to see some of these ladies dress a lil decent cuz on their socials them either half naked or hanging around drug dealers and thugs lmfao
Good job at least y’all have a lil decency and self respect for a few hours
TURN DOWN THAT STUPIDLY LOUD SOUND SYSTEM ON THE STAGE!!!!!!!
LOUD IS NOT BEST!!!!!!
NOTHING BUT A SET OF NOISE WITH SCREAMING ARTISTS TRYING TO MATCH THE LOUDNESS OF THE BAND!!!!
RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!
No water for festival village, prepare for sickness to follow.
Glad to see everyone dressed decent. If a few ladies I see here who always naked on their socials nice sashes. Good work
