A modest but enthusiastic crowd gathered in the Road Town Festival Village for Gospel Fest — one of the first events to mark the beginning of more than two weeks of cultural celebrations for this year’s emancipation festibities.

The evening featured uplifting performances from gospel talents including Tiffany George, Donna Clyne, Joy Praise, Abby Christopher, and headliner Samuel Medas, who delivered a powerful set that stirred hearts and inspired praise and worship among attendees.

The Emancipation festivities continue with at least 15 more days of scheduled events, with the next major item being the traditional torchlight procession and the official opening ceremony of the festival village.

In the meantime, here are some highlights from Gospel Fest as captured by BVI News photographer Andre ‘Shadow’ Dawson:

  1. Well saw says:

As the BVI is known as a Christian Community with so many churches and persons who advocate Christianity.A free Performance with Local and International Artist the turn out is very poor and that have nothing to do with the Location or the events that will take part the next day. I Have seen same kind of concert targeted to the Christians and still very poor turn out. It will be safe to say now that ONLY god in the flesh can make the Christians comeout for one accord. Smh.

Why would we Christians want to enter unholy ground where alcohol is being served to open the Devil’s campground.

True committed Christians will not enter such abominable places!

I guess you don’t go anywhere then because the same excuse you gave can be applied to where you shop for groceries, where you go to dine, where you work! come on, you people make me sick with your judgemental attitudes! Be careful because you might be missing the Bigger picture and bust hell wide open!

not seeing much youths…. not seeing much of a crowd….says a lot about where our views, values and morals are heading for the next generation.

i guess we going bawling about a spike in crime rate over and over again with no plans of action to steer youths in the right direction. you dont gotta go church to be good but at least it teacher good morals and how to treat one another well

i know the other nights and parade and jueve going be full of youths with gunman mask, half naked young girls, and plenty dry grinding of private parts..

i’ll read the complaints about crime and young people in the news later. just wait on it

The gospel night isn’t about any of the hypocrites that hold it.

It’s an opportunity to worship God in spirit and in truth.

Now if the hypocrites started preaching….up and out of there immediately.

  11. Youth says:

It is soo sad to hear Christian’s speaking like this. They calling this spot un holy. We were giving a chance to storm this place with our prayers and praise and destroyed the forces of Satan and revive , heal and restore. You think our God is please with us. We need to get out the walls and go by the hi-ways and byways. That is what he did when he was on earth. We are responsible for what is going on because we are talky talky people and not do what he commands.
