PHOTOS: HL Stoutt honour at national wreath-laying

The British Virgin Islands held its national wreath-laying ceremony on Monday, March 3, at Cappoons Bay Cemetery in honour of the late H. Lavity Stoutt.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Stoutt’s passing. The ceremony was attended by local officials, including Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley, who laid the wreath, and Opposition Leader Ronnie Skelton, who was also present to pay his respects.

Stoutt, the territory’s first and longest-serving Chief Minister, is widely credited for his contributions to the BVI’s education system. He founded the British Virgin Islands Community College, which was later renamed the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) in his honour.

BVI News was present to capture the highlights of the event. All photos by André (Shadow) Dawson.

Almost, but it didn’t happen. He redeemed himself and made up for it tenfold. He was also matured enough to admit his error. You can only see the glass as half empty and not half full. So sad, what did you do for the country in 1968 or since? His record speaks for itself!!

The VI only scaped the political IrMaria due to minds and actions such as Mr. Noel, Ms. Patsy and others due to their firm activism and resolute stances.

So,the ultimate crime is he and others tried to sell their/out country and people to satans of the earth.

And,though we respect him for actvating his moral aptitude and conscience due to much push back against him, do not release him and his hinch money hounds of the truth, that they tried to sell out grand mother, mother, grand father father, brother, sister, cousin, the whole family to satan to become rich into perpituity.

Yet, they and the UK find it hard to recognize minds such as Lindi DeCastro and Noel Llyod for their foresight, steadfastness and decication to the counntry and people.

I completely agree with your final paragraph. Despite my unwavering devotion to Mr. Stoutt and his unbreakable legacy, I’ve expressed this several times. However, same criticism occurs each year after Mr. Stoutt is recognized. You, too, can advocate for these individuals to be properly honored, rather than undermining Mr. Stoutt’s efforts year after year. Despite certain blunders, the people you listed, as well as Mr. Stoutt, acted in the best interests of the BVI. Let us as a people band together and stop knocking down one set to make another appear better. I am thankful to all of them.

      Take several seats.

Honoring this man has nothing to do with lack of honor to Jesus. This man did a great deal for the BVI we have today, although terrible leadership since him will probably see its destruction.

      but that aside.

We can put that blame where it belongs, on us the so called christains. If we, the christians lived life according to the tenants of Jesus, we would have no cause for complaints. A christain walking in the say demonstrates that it is a worthy way of life for the nonbeliever to believe and to embrace Jesus.

We have churchs on every corner – there should be no problem right?

but it is the church going people who fail to realise that the beam they see in other poeple is in their own eye, so they cannot see other people clearly. I believe the scriptures says to remove the beam from your own eye first before you can remove it from others. I believe it also says that if you have a grievance against your fellow man to go and settle it before coming before the Lord and playing holier than the next guy.

No, you don’t get to be this judgemental to others, this is not the way to get a man to change his heart and embrace Jesus. This is the way, you become a stumbling block to that embrace.

      take a seat.

Yes, without pointing out any specific depart or office, they would know who they are, they are some of the most wicked, nasty, jelousy ridden and horrible minds working in our schools and offices today.
