Virgin Islands Party (VIP) supporters have come out in compelling numbers as the party undergoes its pre-election motorcade around the main island of Tortola.

By the looks of things, the number of vehicles participating in today’s motorcade surpasses those from the National Democratic Party grand motorcade a day earlier on Saturday.

The VIP motorcade, which was still underway up to press time, began at the festival grounds in Road Town then headed towards the western end of Tortola.

The pre-planned route sees the motorcade moving through Carrot Bay, then on to Cane Garden Bay before proceeding to the eastern end of Tortola. The motorcade will culminate in Road Town.

The Progressive Virgin Islands Movement has been roving the main island as well. Independent candidates Dancia Penn and Dr Kedrick Pickering also had motorcades of their own on Sunday.

In the meantime, below are scenes from Sunday’s VIP motorcade captured by independent photographer, Jessica Mikoleiczik.

  6. VIP half the way says:

Well they say the motorcade determines the outcome of the election. As bad as they claim the NDP was at least they have something to show for such as the cruise pier. The last time the VIP was in consultancy fee were given to a number of persons and absolutely nothing to show. Andrew please discontinue that practice.
At the VIP event last night I told a supporter I’m undecided voting party all the way they told me to look around and all the people there my one vote doesn’t count. They further stated all the things Andrew has promised them. I am a VIP supporter but I still have questions unanswered. Proof of all the corruption allegations. Instead of Andrew clearly starting what you do to continue taking this country forward you jump and keep press conferences saying what the NDP done.
Why wasn’t Julian Willock nominated as an at large candidate…he would have done great along with Dancia but you allegedly undermined her by put a candidate against her last election. Those two on your team would have been a force to fight with.
Please Andrew no victimization because you persona supported other parties…your supporters have made this clear to others because they with other parties.
Right now it’s VIP half the way for me…..see what happens by morning.

The last big motorcade it had like that the party lost big time. A motorcade does not determine the outcome

It surely does. It’s a fair indication of how energized the electorate is about a particular party!! The year that you are speaking about was the year that NDP p@yd people to go in their motorcade and rented dozens of vehicles to make up numbers. Tek dat!!!

Which youth you taking about. Not the same one he have attending school half day in a leaking building. My pet peeve with Myron is this as minister of education and someone who claims to be for the youths, I felt his priority should have been to fix the L shape building and get our children back to school full time. Under his watch almost every program for the youths have suffered and some have stop altogether. Our schools should have been top priority for someone who claims to be for the youths. He should have fought tooth and nail with every member of council to accomplish this. Same effort he putting into berating others he should have for the fixing our schools. Little drops here and there ain’t cutting it no more.

  10. Political Observer (PO) says:

A massive parade does not necessarily equates to votes cast. Regardless of each voter’s political philosophy, he/she needs to vote on Election Day, if he/she didn’t vote in early voting. This election is crucial and comes amidst one of the most challenging period in the territory’s history. The territory is faced with a myriad of challenges from within and outside the territory. As such, each voter must take pause and vote the national/territorial interest at the polls.

The new elected members must be able to hit the ground sprinting for the next four years. As such, they must have stamina, skill, strength, character, integrity, knowlegable, ability, hard working, unselfish, humility, forward looking, results oriented …….etc. It is a lot to ask but theee traits cannot compromised. Go vote. If you don’t vote, you lose the reason to complain. Be part of prescription for what ails the BVI.
