PHOTOS: Rise & Shine 2023
Residents from all walks of life showed up and showed out for the Rise and Shine Tramp held in Road Town, Tortola as part of the annual emancipation festivities.
Revellers — splashed in paint of various colours — were all smiles as they danced and pranced all over the BVI’s capital to the sounds of familiar soca beats.
Many were seen hugging, greeting and dancing with each other as they enjoyed the water, paint and music, which all added to the ambience.
Though cultural experts often bemoan the lack of interest in events like Rise and Shine, many young people were spotted enjoying the event alongside more mature residents and lots of familiar faces from the corporate world.

Are they celebrating Emancipation or is this an Orgy? Some of these women left nothing for a man to desire. Freaking tasteless and classless women. I even saw two young children who seemed so out of place that one of them even blocked her ears while the other looked rather frightened. Couldn’t their mother stay at home if there was no one to take care of them while she frolicked? May God have mercy on our souls!!
Most appropriately dressed persons were Ken and Jeanette Boynes. All others looked like thrash.

to those who had on a short pants. a very short pants would have look way better and not have your franchise exposed to everyone to see what you have. how does it feel showing tom dick and larry what god bless you with?? no class at all.
BVI has a serious obiese problem.
Such will challenge the medical establishment to its core. and beyond….
Clearly, our diets, foods, drinks and manner and style of cooking appears to be in need of modification.
Last, the communities need tosaturated with educative literature on healthy eating and obsessive, compulsive and disordersne aeting.

Stop trying to follow the rest of the Caribbean people with their trashy Carnival . Be different! You should be having festival! Something with meaning! Something with essence! I came on the ship ! I was expecting more entries- floats displaying of Cultural activities. Smh
@Here comes the judgmental crowd, nobody is judging anybody. People are simply talking about what they saw. It will be insane to see obscenity and call it modesty or decency. The Pictures clearly show who we are and what our values are: absolute nudity. We are not the first to prefer obscenity and profanity to Godliness, but I only hope this will not bring an end to family life in our nation. If we can be so brazen with the open display of wild erotic merriment, we must be prepared to face the consequences. One can only imagine what is happening behind the doors. It takes dead conscience or shamelessness to dress nude and proudly flaunt same to the entire world. The entire fiasco is indeed our express of freedom as enshrined in our constitution. At the same time, conjugal relationships will aim at sexual pleasures only. Don’t ever think that we can produce a decent society with such relationships. MAINTANING LAW AND ORDER WILL BE A HERCULINE TASK JUST AS THE COST OF HEALTH CARE DELIVERY WILL PEAK IN NO TIME WHILE LUST WILL REPLACE LOVE. I didn’t see any man in the pictures who attempted to push the boundaries like out women did. Result: most women in our society would have to make do without husbands for the rest of their lives. As we all know, no decent, loving husband would run after a woman who has always been available and cheap for any cheap sex. On the other hand, society stands the risk of facing extinction within a thousand years. The part that bothered me most is about church goers, ushers, choir members etc. who participated in the orgy. The silence of our political leaders shows they have no bones to pick here.
