PHOTOS: Rise & Shine 2025

Scores or revellers took to the streets in the early hours of Monday, August 4, for the Rise and Shine Tramp — part of the 71st Emancipation Festival celebrations in Road Town.
Revellers danced behind bands, waving flags and getting soaked in water, paint, and foam as soca music blared through the streets.
The colourful procession was captured by photographer Andre “Shadow” Dawson, who was on hand to document the vibrant display ahead of the August Monday Parade.

Yikes……
You have people being awarded by the DG’s office professing they have strong Christian values yet the same people are setting the stage for secular promoters AT FESTIVAL AND ELSEWHERE!!!
Then those who preach at church sharing the post because of friendship.
1. Compromising God’s way for the world means prioritizing worldly values, desires, or pressures over God’s teachings and principles.
2. This can manifest as conforming to societal norms that contradict God’s commands, prioritizing personal gain or comfort over obedience, or softening one’s stance on core beliefs to fit in or avoid conflict.
WE ARE NOT TO TWIST HIS COMMANDS FOR SELFISH WANTS!!
A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST MEANS IN OBEDIENCE NOT JUST SAYING SO BY MOUTH!!
Matthew15:18 These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Psalm 101:3 says, “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.”
We have to guard our hearts by being selective about what goes in our eyes and ears. CANNOT say it is harmless and that’s because it begins to permeate your soul. God know why He told us NOT TO DO THIS AND THAT!
That’s why Romans 12:2 tells us the only way to not be conformed to this world is to renew our minds with the Word of God. If we fill ourselves up with the wickedness found in the world including media, we’re going in the opposite direction of the Word.
PEOPLE STOP PLAYING WITH GOD!!!
I too said YIKES.
Y’all see the dudes dress up as gun man with fake balloons? Lol I have ntn else to say mehson…
In front police and the district rep and NOTHING WAS DONE?!!!??!!
FAKE GUNS SHOULD NOT BE CONDONED ESPECIALLY IN PUBLIC !!!!!!!
I just a few videos circulating with fights. I don’t know if it’s from jouvert or parade but lmfao wa else can I expect from a set of animals.
Hey the youths say this the new culture so alight. All good in the hood.
I don’t expect respect for one another, morals, understanding, or good vybz to one another from these crowds who like these kinda activities
lol not them. Just drunkenness, fights, knives, guns, smoking, and skin touching contest. But yea leave them to their own demise just like the scooter riders unfortunately
the bvi is lost
Looks kinda tame this year to me, but what’s with the fake guns and masks. And that disgusting paint.
More than half of them there with those big chains, stole them for themselves and their *itches. How can you rob a man and go out posing? Yall sick.
The people had fun no need to be negative. Tourist had fun too. They put effort into their costume. People dress up for halloween parties and some people have a problem with it every year.
What’s positive about guns and masks?
Smh
At its best….classy to the bone!
You need to remove some of the pictures keep them off the media. They are to lawless and disrespectful.
The garrot virus infection, nauseates and deciminates the imported poor.
Trump would be ecstatic
BVI has gone to the DOGS..Literally.
Several people have observed on social media that this is not BVI culture and that the rampant vulgarity now associated with BVI Festival is a quite recent thing. One commenter on this news-site puts it that “All across the Caribbean region – and Caribbean diaspora – we are witnessing this race to ‘the bottom’.” It’s not where you from (BVI or someplace else) but who you are, your moral character. You don’t see your doctor, nurse, school teacher, banker, store employee, etc from “down island” engaging in these vulgarity activities in the festival village or the Rise and Shine tramp. They respect both themselves and the BVI community in which they live and work. But our government , on the other hand, finances and supports what has just become a bacchanal of vulgarity, as another commenter here put it, “an overrated music fest with most artists promoting vulgarity and promiscuity.” May be its time to scrap the Festival as we now have it and start over.
